BBC vs Scientology

I’m not a fan of of the scam that is Scientology but I’m less a fan of attempts by foreign Marxist governments and their state run media to slander the Americans involved, Americans who are guaranteed by the constitution the absolute right to believe in any kooky idea slapped together by a hack sci-fi writer they feel gives them the most meaning.

I’m even less of a fan of atheists and communists who get so upset that other people are happy in their religious lives, so go on a crusade to shatter the faith of adherents, or at least get others to ostracize the religious by painting them as a sinister cult. That is apparently what BBC shill John Sweeney was attempting when getting footage for a new state funded documentary about how evil Scientology is. As you could imagine, after the Hubbardians got wind of Sweeney’s attempt to discredit their Constitutionally protected kooky cult, it was game on.

Sweeney didn’t have the stuff. He reacted like any leftist cornered by someone on their rank hypocrisy:

And you thought Scientologists were crazy. The truth is they’re no crazier than the next guy, but Sweeney is obviously unhinged. Sweeney’s documentary will be, no doubt, and indictment of Scientology, but how can people accept anything he says now that he’s been proved to be unstable?

The fact is that England’s attacking Scientology for the same reason China attacks the Fulan Gong, because the group is large and organized and may resist the absolute power of the state to control thought, which both England and China believe is an important part of government. Scientology, no matter how you feel about it, will not bow to the creeping Islamism in Europe, nor will it accept Marxist solutions to social ills as acceptable, and that’s why the BBC was sent out to do a hit piece.

And Americans know that the Scientologists are always ready to throw out a hit piece of their own, which will make this battle of kooks all the more fun to watch.

Don’t Be Too Hard on Sarkozy

There’s some concern on the right about Sarkozy’s appointments to his cabinet, specifically his appointment of anti-American socialists like Hubert Vedrine to key political positions which, some are saying, would seem to indicate a swing away from his pro-U.S. stance. But this isn’t necessarily the case. Remember, there are riots in France by the far left who have shown that they are willing to use violence against the state to change the outcome of the elections. The rioters are a combination of Islamists and young Marxists, and Sarkozy needs to keep the situation in France from devolving into a civil war between them and his supporters who are mainly center right (for now) with a lot of leftists and moderates fed up with the decline of France.

Sarkozy needs to do two things to get control over France so that his reforms can be instituted. The first is to draw support from the “revolutionaries” by showing them that the left still has a voice in politics. While “reaching across the isle” may backfire in many ways, not the least of which is to convince Marxists that violence is the answer to gaining concessions, it may also stop more people from joining the violent protest movement if they see that their interests are represented in the government they’re trying to overthrow.

The second step is to crack some heads, so thinning out the herd of leftists first is a good idea. The youth in France need to learn that rampaging through the streets every time they feel slighted is actually a big part of what keeps them and their nation from being a serious player on the world stage. But truth be known, kids that fall in with pseudo cults like communism aren’t convinced by essays and speeches, but by spending a little time in the cooler. Sarkozy’s olive branch will soothe some of the more rational rioters, and be a good cover for a new crack down. An added benefit will be to drive a wedge between leftist factions, as those in power in Sarkozy’s government tacitly approve of the “abuse” of their fellow Marxists. If Sarkozy plays his cards right he may be able to divide the left in France into two camps, moderate leftists who obey the laws and violent radicals. That will make things easier on the police, and ultimately France.

So let’s not be too hard on Sarkozy just yet – he’s playing well with a pretty bad hand. I say let’s give him some time to see if his bluff works.

As an aside, is Ann Coulter a little too skinny to represent us capitalists? I like to think that the American way is a bit more voluptuous than that.

See what I mean? That’s a woman that promotes capitalism. Ann, not so much. I’m not saying I’m not a fan of Ann, just that she doesn’t visually convey the “essence” of America. Am I wrong, or does Ann need to put on 10-15 pounds?

Leftist Supporters of Cuba Rewarded with Child Sex Slaves

Cubanology has a post up on how European supporters of the communist nation really spend their time when visiting the workers’ paradise. It links to a video that is a bit risque, but starkly shows the exploitation of young Cuban girls by tourists. The video comes courtesy of Abajo Fidel, a great blog to read if you’re interested in freedom in Cuba and Latin America. It’s hard to watch, but you’ll come away understanding why European and American defenders of Cuba are so unseemly, especially the men who go there any chance they get.

Not that I’m implying that Moore, or this high school teacher from the upper west side who took his kids to Cuba (and rumor has it enjoyed the night life while he was there) necessarily purchased children for sex. There are, after all, adult women for sale there as well. But child prostitution in Cuba is a problem that has been noted by human rights investigators before yet still thrives driven by greed and the sex tourism industry.

Don’t expect leftists to decry this abuse of human rights though. Abusing women is only wrong if it’s done by capitalism.

American Cell Phones Killing America’s Soldiers!

Northeast intelligence Network has been reporting on bulk cell phone purchases by young Muslim men for many months, and has found a case where a man involved in those purchases admitted that the cell phones will be used to make bombs that will end up being used against our soldiers in Iraq.

Their source is this news report of an investigation ongoing in Muleshoe, Texas. Here’s the important part:

According to police reports, Muleshoe authorities have questioned a man who confessed to buying sixty disposable cell phones in a variety of Muleshoe stores. He reportedly went on to admit that the phones would eventually be used as bomb detonators in Iraq.

Emphasis mine. I guess people who said that being worried about the bulk purchases was a sign of paranoia will apologize now.
