U.N. Peace Keepers Gang Rape 13-Year-Old, Leave Her for Dead in Field

Just one of a long list of atrocities committed by United Nations Blue Helmets in Africa and other developing countries. From the oddly titled BBC report Peacekeepers ‘abusing children’:

Children as young as six are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and aid workers, says a leading UK charity.

Children in post-conflict areas are being abused by the very people drafted into such zones to help look after them, says Save the Children.

After research in Ivory Coast, southern Sudan and Haiti, the charity said an international watchdog should be created to deal with the issue.

The UN has said it welcomes the report, which it will study closely.

Save the Children said the most shocking aspect of child sex abuse is that most of it goes unreported and unpunished, with children too scared to speak out.

A 13-year-old girl described to the BBC how 10 UN peacekeepers gang-raped her in a field near her Ivory Coast home, and left her bleeding, trembling and vomiting on the ground.

No action has been taken against the soldiers
.

The report doesn’t say what country the Ivory Coast peacekeeping forces are from, but it’s safe to say that had they been Americans the BBC would have gleefully reported it. I like the way the BBC puts “abusing children” in quotes. It doesn’t seem like the headline is designed to cast doubt on the victims stories at all. Something tells me there are no BBC articles about Abu Ghraib where the word abuse is anywhere near a quotation mark.

Isn’t it time to pull out of the U.N.?

Are The Riots in Kenya Part of The Jihad?

The deadly riots raging in Kenya, which the Agence France-Presse is implying are largely being led by Barack Obama supporters (!?!) may have in part been sparked by the opposition Orange Democratic Movement allying itself with a group known as the National Muslim Leaders Forum.

The ODM candidate for president signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” with NAMLEF (I’m not sure what the “E” is for) that in essence gives away large swaths of Kenya to Muslims, instituting de facto Sharia law along the coast and in the northeast and establishing Sharia courts in every province. The MOU further states that Christian missionary activities (Revivals, televised evangelism) would be banned and that Muslim dress codes would be instituted for non-Muslims.

The MOU also would make it illegal for any Muslim in Kenya, citizen or not, to be turned over to America for participating in terrorism. In other words if Osama bin Ladin popped up in Kenya, the government would be obliged to protect him from extradition to America.

The text of the MOU can be found here.

The ODM has admitted to signing a pact with the Muslims, but claim the one leaked on-line is a fake. They haven’t released the “real” copy yet however, though they are under much pressure to do so.

The text of the MOU reads like an Al-Qaeda propaganda tract with the obligatory mention of “Zionists” and the demand that the opposition see Islam as their “Partners of Choice.” It’d be a worrisome document indeed for any Christian or Hindu living in Kenya if even one tenth of the demands are implemented. Because the ODM have won a majority of the Parliamentary seats the prospect of the ODM honoring this agreement has panicked the Kenyan Christian community.

The opposition is accusing the new President of staging a coup to keep the ODM out of power. After reading the document, I’d have staged one too. Much of the rioting is in support of the opposition, by Muslim communities.

Of course the BBC is propagandizing for the Muslims. To our shame, President Bush is not supporting the Kenyan fight against Islamic Imperialism, a decision I’m sure we’ll regret later.

h/t Atlas who has an incredible post that put the “Obama supporter” story into perspective.
