Hacker Claims Smart Grid Has “100% Certainty of Catastrophic Failure”
The left doesn’t care, in fact considering the inroads of both the radical green movement and communist groups who openly call for America to collapse it’s likely that the smart grid they envision is designed to fail. From MarketWatch:
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Apr 12, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The vulnerability of the energy industry’s new wireless smart grid will inevitably lead to lights out for everyone, according to leading cyber expert David Chalk. In an online interview for an upcoming documentary film entitled ‘Take Back Your Power’ ( www.ThePowerFilm.org ), Chalk says the entire power grid will be at risk to being taken down by cyber attack, and if installations continue it’s only a matter of time.
“We’re in a state of crisis,” said Chalk. “The front door is open and there is no lock to be had. There is not a power meter or device on the grid that is protected from hacking – if not already infected – with some sort of trojan horse that can cause the grid to be shut down or completely annihilated.”
“One of the most amazing things that has happened to mankind in the last 100 years is the Internet. It’s given us possibility beyond our wildest imagination. But we also know the vulnerabilities that exist inside of it. And then we have the backbone, the power grid that powers our nations. Those two are coming together. And it’s the smart meter on your home or business that’s now allowing that connectivity.”
Chalk also issued a challenge to governments, media and technology producers to show him one piece of digital technology that is hack-proof.
“The computer companies that are involved, the manufacturers that are involved, bring forward a technology and I will show you that it’s penetrable,” said Chalk. “I’ll do it on national TV, I’ll do it anywhere. But I can guarantee you 100% that there is nothing out there today — nothing — that can’t be penetrated.”

Egypt Cuts Natural Gas Supplies to Israel
Supposedly because the old regime was selling the gas too cheap but this might be part of a strategy to weaken Israel before the coming war. Way to go Obama!
Egypt on Sunday terminated a long-term gas deal with Israel, a stakeholder said, prompting Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz to express “deep concern” over what he described as a move diminishing the peace treaty between the two countries.
Neither the Foreign Ministry nor the Prime Minister’s Office had any comment on the report, with one ministry official saying that the relevant authorities were “looking into” the matter.
“We have no information that the contract has been nullified,” one Foreign Ministry official said.
The official added that if the report was indeed true it would be a “grave development” with ramifications on the normalization of ties between the two countries under the 1979 peace treaty. But, the official added, this was not an agreement between governments, but rather between private companies and the Egyptian government.
Steinitz said he viewed with “deep concern the unilateral Egyptian announcement over terminating the gas deal with Israel, both because of its diplomatic and economic aspects. This is a dangerous precedent that diminishes the peace treaty” between the neighboring countries.
Opposition head Shaul Mofaz said that the move puts the ties between the two countries at their lowest since the peace treaty was signed.
According to Israel Radio, Mofaz said this was a “blatant infringement of the peace treaty.” This step, he said, necessitated a reaction from the US, which was the guarantor of the Camp David Accords.
Lefties are downplaying this as a commercial dispute but i can see Armageddon from here. Can you?
Chi-Com Navy Probing American Allies
During the orgy of racial exploitation by the American media an important story was lost in the din. Chinese communist ships were in a tense stand-off this week with Philippine naval vessels which ostensibly started over Chinese poaching:
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines and China agreed Friday to set aside their diplomatic protests in order to ease tensions over a naval standoff in the disputed South China Sea, the top Filipino diplomat said
China also pulled back one of three surveillance ships at the Scarborough Shoal off the northwestern Philippines, Philippine Foreign Secretary Albert Del Rosario told reporters. But the impasse remained with two other Chinese ships facing off a Philippine coast guard vessel.
Del Rosario said that China’s ambassador presented her own proposal to end the standoff, which began early this week when Chinese ships prevented the Philippine navy from detaining Chinese fishermen who were allegedly caught poaching.
Both sides claim the uninhabited, horseshoe-shaped shoal, which lies about 200 kilometers (120 miles) from Zambales province, the nearest Philippine coast.
The 4-day-old standoff has reignited concern for potential conflict in the South China Sea, one of the world’s busiest lanes that is also home to a myriad of competing territorial claims, most notably the Spratly Islands south of the shoal.
The disputes have settled into an uneasy standoff since the last major clash, which involved China and Vietnam and killed more than 70 Vietnamese sailors in 1988.
The barren islands, reefs and coral outcrops are claimed by China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Taiwan. They are rich fishing grounds and are believed to contain oil and gas reserves.
So the stakes here are high, especially to a country like China whose internal stability relies on large supplies of both cheap food and cheap energy. But there may be more going on here as this report implies:
MANILA, Philippines – The standoff at Scarborough Shoal, which Filipinos call Panatag Shoal, is a baptism of fire for the Navy’s largest warship BRP Gregorio del Pilar, its officers and crew.
The decades-old vessel acquired from the US last year did not encounter any intruder before this week’s incident, which involved two Chinese surveillance ships.
“What is interesting is the ship was in Palawan since Christmas and nothing happened. It’s been in Scarborough Shoal for just a day and this incident happened,” Navy chief Vice Adm. Alexander Pama remarked.
The Gregorio del Pilar was deployed to Panatag Shoal last Sunday on a mission to protect the country’s marine environment and sovereignty. The Panatag Shoal is located 124 nautical miles from the nearest base point in Zambales.
On Sunday, the Navy monitored eight Chinese fishing vessels anchored inside the shoal while conducting security patrol.
The Gregorio del Pilar sent a boarding team on Tuesday to inspect the fishing vessels and collect evidence of their catch. The team found illegally collected corals, giant clams and live sharks inside the vessels.
However, two Chinese surveillance ships placed themselves between the Gregorio del Pilar and the fishing vessels, preventing the arrest of the erring fishermen. The standoff has not been resolved as of this writing.
While critics claim the incident proved that China is not afraid of the Philippines’ warship, Pama said this boosted the morale of the Filipino sailors.
It sounds like the Chinese wanted to test the resolve and capabilities of the Philippine Navy and their newest warship which is an old U.S military vessel.
