Viva Las Vegas! (and Capitalism)

The message of the song is clear, Capitalism allows us to enjoy lives of prosperity and abundance unknown in other countries. Even the poor in America can afford vacations, whether just weekend excursions or week long trips and all Americans of every class love to visit the “Sin City” where everyone’s treated like the King.

And there’s only one King in America: ELVIS

Like Las Vegas itself, Elvis was made possible by Capitalism and the freedom it provides. There was no Soviet Elvis and there will be no Elvis from neo-marxist Europe. America produced both and we should be damned proud of it.

So roll the dice baby, and buy your tickets. Vegas calls!

Lines Are Being Drawn: Jim Horn’s Message of War

A few years ago Jim Horn’s message of universal, eternal war between Islam and the west would have been dismissed out of hand even by the farthest right of the Republican Party. But times have changed and his speech to the National Federation of Republican Women was well received and won many converts among Americans who, looking across the pond to Europe, see the threat of Islamo-fascism growing and seemingly unstoppable.

Tinged with paranoia, but grounded in reality Jim Horn’s speech is the most important speech you will listen hear and it is in your best interest, whether you’re a committed leftist or rabid right winger, to listen to what he has to say and make a simple decision: Where does your alligence lie?

War is coming, and it will come to America’s shores. If may come in the form of Communist armies marching through Latin America, where Chavez has already invaded Guyana and threatens Columbia with state sponsored terrorism as well as invasion. Chavez is thought to support a Hezbolla cell in his country and has close ties to Islamist states like Iran which also sponsors terror groups in Latin America.

Or our own “far left” here, who openly operate a terrorist insurgency in our ally Mexico’s beleaguered Oaxcala province may turn their attention to our own shores. These same leftist are being groomed as allies by Islamist groups.

And Islamist themselves are active in America, training on compounds throughout the country for a day when open conflict will come. Many of these compounds are populated by former convicts who converted to Islam in prison and are connected to a Pakistani Jihadist.

We have left the gates open the enemy is here. Join the United American Committee to preserve your freedom for yourself and your children. And watch this speech with an open mind if you’re on the fence:

Shocking at first, but imagine the main street of your town burning like the streets of France. Imagine having to deal with a plague of honor killings or imagine a world Islamic court trying you for insulting their prophet, backed by a U.N. mandate to punish you as they see fit.

Serbs are fleeing the Kosovo in terror while the world stands by. Arab Muslim men granted Israeli citizenship just gang raped a teenage girl while calling her a “dirty Jew” and the savagery of the Muslim rioters in France has to be read to be believed. This can all happen here. This does happen here.

Where does your alligence lie?

In Praise of Cowboy Diplomacy

Republican activist and “awesome” O’Reilly Factor talking head Margaret Hoover posted a great defense of President Bush and his foreign policy a couple of days ago which listed a number of accomplishments that W has achieved that “liberals” not only overlook, but purposefully distort when they are forced to acknowledge them at all:

A month ago, on The View, Hillary Clinton called President Bush’s foreign policy “Cowboy Diplomacy”.

Let’s explore Cowboy Diplomacy:

  1. Libya was encouraged by the Bush Administration to abandon its WMD programs thanks to the post 9/11 ”with us or against us” policy;
  2. North Korea, through multi-lateral talks with Northeast Asian countries led by the US, is now dismantling their nuclear weapons programs;
  3. The Taliban, the most brutal and regressive regime in the Middle East no longer rules Afghanistan, and has been replaced by a growing representative government;
  4. A political sea-change in Europe elected (previously unthinkable) pro-Bush leadership to France and pro-American German leadership because ordinary German and French citizens understand that spewing anti-American vitriol is no way to confront the evil of radical Islam’s ascent (this was a direct result of the Bush Administration’s post 9/11 policies);
  5. The most brutal dictator in the Middle East, was removed from power, tried, and brought to justice: Saddam Hussein.

That there are enough people who fail to understand how much safer our world is because George W. Bush has been our President, is profoundly worrisome.

It’s more than worrisome. I remember the first time I realized that “liberals” (who aren’t liberals at all these days, just a collection of neo-Marxists) weren’t just wrong, but dangerous. It was 9/11.

I was in Connecticut attending Wesleyan, my wife was working in New York and I lived in a small apartment working for a before and after school program run by the Middlesex County Y.M.C.A. My mother was a social worker who worked on Church street, right in the shadow of the Trade Centers.

I had gotten home from the morning shift and turned on the T.V. to watch the news and saw the the aftermath of the first plane. I was stunned. I watched the second plane hit and knew it was an attack. I knew and as the reports came in about other planes crashing I tried to contact my wife and my mother but couldn’t get through.

It was chaos and as I tried desperately to reach my loved ones I got another call from the Y. They needed me to come in because the teachers in several of the elementary schools had fled like rats, leaving the kids behind. The after school program workers, many of whom were kids themselves, were called in to watch the kids until their parents picked them up.

Going back to some months before, at the various elementary schools I worked I saw these same teachers assign homework that was little more than indoctrination. I saw teachers lobby their charges to tell their parents to vote Democrat. I saw one teacher who had her class make a sign that compared the 2000 election candidates that included such outrageous propaganda as “Bush wants more guns in America” and “Democrats help Black people.”

These “liberal” teachers groomed these children to be future Democrats, and when they thought there was danger afoot they left them to die.

My boss, a Republican by the way, gave me permission to use the phone at my site so I could try to contact people. The “caring liberals” had fled before any real arrangements could be made. I got in touch with my wife in the evening. I didn’t hear from my mother until late the next day. She was one of the masses of people, covered in ash who were trapped in NY for hours.

It was one of the most horrible days of my life, and it never happened again. George Bush is responsible for that fact. In the six years since 9/11 I’ve never again spent hours dialing and redialing family members numbers not knowing if they were dead or alive.

You would think “liberals” would be appreciative of the fact that Bush has kept them from showing their shameful cowardice in the face of another attack. But like true cowards they distract from their own failings by attacking people who they know aren’t dangerous to them.

Cowboy diplomacy has kept America safe, and the illusions of bravery among leftists unharmed. You’d think they’d be grateful. But they’re not and that is more than worrisome.

Viva Capitalism!

Starting today weekends I’m going to take the time to celebrate America, the greatest country in the world, and the force that makes this so.

Capitalism.

What turned me on to capitalism? I was mulling this over while my wife and I were buying quail eggs and foie gras at a little specialty shop and realized I’ve been a capitalist since I was a little kid growing up in the very poor, crime ridden ghetto of East Orange. I realized at that time that money not only provided opportunity, but it was everywhere.

Everywhere except in places like East Orange where the majority of people sat back and waited for the non-existent largess of White liberals to lend them the helping hand they were told was coming for decades.

My Grandmother used to quote an old Black singer who had become very famous in the 40s and 50s against all odds. I think it was Lena Horne. The quote was something like “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor. I like rich a lot better!” and it’s something I took to heart after hearing it so often. But I am of a different generation and I prefer to quote Kiss and their take on the same theme.

“It’s not a crime to be good to yourself.”

The Democrats’ new plan for the upcoming elections is to modify the Marxist class warfare idea. Part of that modification is to declare relatively well to do people as “middle class” and turn them against the “rich” who are portrayed as wasteful and evil. The “middle class” therefore has adopted a pretension of poverty. They are ashamed of their ability to enjoy their lives.

They shouldn’t be. I’m not. I grew up poor and though my wife and I are not rich by any means we are able to treat ourselves to things we enjoy. Like quail eggs. Poor people in this country (like some of my own family) live lifestyles that make Europeans jealous. If you don’t believe me just go to “little Ireland” in the Bronx and ask one of the Irish immigrants why they came here.

Color televisions, cars, jewelry and computers are things that people in other countries can barely afford. By the gods, our poor children have an obesity problem!

Life is good and enjoying it isn’t wrong. I love my life and if you live in America you should too. But Kiss says it better than me, so enjoy:

This clip not only explains the joy of capitalism (in a post apocalyptic future no less), but also likely explains why I’m pro-gay rights. Even in my formative years I knew that this video was fabulous. And I still loved it.
