Why Do Livestock Inspector in New Mexico Need Armed Escorts?

For decades they didn’t need to be protected by armed escorts, now they are suddenly assigned them. What’s going on in New Mexico?

When inspectors in New Mexico begin surveying 32 livestock scales along the increasingly dangerous Mexican border later this month, they’ll have armed escorts at their sides.

It will mark the first time armed deputies will travel with New Mexico Department of Agriculture inspectors, who certify the scales used to weigh livestock, Luna County Sheriff Raymond Cobos said.

“These scales that the ranchers use to ship their cattle are in isolated areas,” Cobos told FoxNews.com. “And the administration decided since those inspectors and personnel are not armed, they wanted to be able to concentrate on their work without worrying about their security.”

Cobos said that beginning on July 26, deputies will accompany inspectors to the scales in a corridor that stretches southwest from Interstate 10 at Las Cruces to the New Mexico-Arizona border, along Luna, Hidalgo and Grant counties.

“It also helps the deputies become more familiar with the ranches and their particular layouts,” Cobos said. “It’s a benefit to all of us.”

It’s an interesting article and you should give it a quick read if you haven’t already, but the subtext here seems to be that there is no guarantee of law and order anywhere near the Mexican border. The destabilized Mexican state is leaking it’s chaos over the border and we are basically powerless to stop it.

Mexican Officials to “Patrol” Staten Island

A 40-year-old Mexican construction worker was the sixth immigrant who has reported being attacked in Staten Island in what Mexican Consul General Ruben Beltran is describing as a hate crime … even though it was a mugging:

Police are investigating another assault on a Hispanic man in Staten Island as a possible hate crime — and the Mexican government is now getting involved as well.

Five men attacked the 40-year-old Mexican man Friday night as he was walking home after a soccer game at Faber Park, cop said. The attackers allegedly pummeled him while yelling anti-Mexican epithets. The man suffered head trauma, a fractured jaw and needed ten stitches above his eye, officials said.

The group of men made off with his backpack.

And of course there were no descriptions released, which I assume means the man was targeted by one of the gangs that have been raising hell in Staten Island the last few years. The Bloods have been on a rampage there and are known to target Mexicans in retaliation for Mexican Mafia affiliated gangs “green lighting” of all Blacks in any area they claim as turf. Non-Mexican Hispanic gangs like Dominicans Don’t Play and Trinitarios are also not fond of Mexicans whether they are in gangs are not.

I assume if the assailants were White NBC would have linked the crime to the Tea Party by now.

But what’s worrisome about this report is this nugget:

“We will act decisively in order to protect our citizens and will actively promote that those guilty of these vicious attacks are brought to justice expeditiously. We are working hand-in-hand with local authorities on all levels,” said Consul General of Mexico in New York, Ruben Beltran in an email to the Staten Island Advance.

[…]

Beltran has asked the NYPD to “conduct a thorough investigation” of the alleged hate-crime cases. Beltran has offered “extensive cooperation and all the necessary support to ensure that justice is served.”

According to the Advance, this latest incident has promoted the Mexican Consulate to post personnel in Staten Island until further notice. This move is an effort to safeguard the rights of individuals and effectively assist and provide information to the Mexican residents of this area.

Beltran sounds like he thinks he’s part of the investigation. But more importantly, who are these “personnel” who will be “safe guarding” Mexican citizens on our streets? Soldiers? Diplomats? And what will they be empowered to do?

I don’t like the sound of this.

Multiple Ranches in Laredo, Texas Taken Over by Los Zetas UPDATE:Laredo Morning Times Says It’s a Hoax!

This story appeared in The Cyprus Times which is not a reliable source but Pat Dollard followed up and it has passed his smell test. The war on the border is now an actual war that the American government is refusing to fight as transnational warlords continue to take territory from America acre by bloody acre.

From Digger’s Realm:

The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed. The source is law enforcement in the area.

(Update 2 story is now 100% confirmed by second source within the Laredo Police Department)

Founder of the San Diego Minutemen Jeff Schwilk tipped me off to this story and passes along the following information on the location. The ranches are said to be “near Mines Rd. and Minerales Annex Rd about 10 miles NW of I-35”.

Update 1 (Statement from Mr. Schwilk)

I can personally vouch that this info came in late last night from a reliable police source inside the Laredo PD. There is currently a standoff between the unknown size Zeta forces and U.S. Border Patrol and local law enforcement on two ranches on our side of the Rio Grande. The source tells us he considers this an “act of war” and that the military is needed on the border now!

Kimberly Dvorak at the Examiner has also confirmed the story

Whether it is lone members or squads is not certain.

The media is not reporting this which means either this is a hoax or no one knows how to report on the invasion of America by a powerful non-state actor and more importantly, the inability of authorities to prevent it. I doubt Dollard would risk his reputation on a hoax so I’m leaning toward the second explanation.

The barbarians are sacking the empire, and Nero keeps playing the fiddle.

Update: LMTOnline claims the police know nothing about the incident:

Local law enforcement was bombarded with calls from across the country Saturday asking about a report that the Zetas had taken over two ranches off Mines Road.

But officials with the Laredo Police Department, Webb County Sheriff’s Department and Border Patrol said they knew nothing about such an incident, while Erik Vasys, an FBI spokesman in San Antonio, said the agency does not comment on rumors.

The report, which spread like wildfire among blogs Saturday afternoon, appears to have initially been posted on a blog called Diggers Realm.

The blogger wrote that he got a tip from a San Diego, Calif., minuteman named Jeff Schwilk, who said that the Zetas, former enforcers of the Gulf Cartel, had crossed into the United States and taken over two ranches off Mines Road, about 10 miles northwest of Interstate 35.

Quoting Schwilk, the blogger wrote that there was a standoff between “the unknown size Zeta forces and the U.S. Border Patrol and local law enforcement on two ranches …”

The blogger wrote that the story was confirmed by anonymous sources at LPD.

But Investigator Jose E. Baeza, LPD spokesman, said he had not heard anything about the incident. Also, an LPD sergeant, who was on duty as a watch commander Saturday afternoon, said she had not heard anything about it either.

At about 4:30 p.m., Maru De La Paz, spokeswoman for Webb County Sheriff’s Office, wrote that the report about Zetas taking over ranches in Laredo is not confirmed.

Notice no one has actually said they have gone out tot he ranches to check. This is developing but it looks like Digger’s Realm has some explaining to do:
