The Balkanization of America is becoming more and more apparent:
And vote Van Tran!
It looks like the exodus of tax payers from New York is taking its toll on the state’s budget and ability to stay solvent. Tax and fee hikes to fund lavish social programs are the number one reason people have been leaving New York for greener pastures for years (myself included) and now the Empire State has reached the point where they have more people and projects collecting revenue than paying it in.
Since September 3rd, New York has been out of money:
NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York state’s general fund has had a negative cash balance every day since September 3, a problem that “underscores the tremendous amount of risk” in the state’s budget, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said on Thursday.
Though New York ended August with a nearly $528 million of cash in the general fund, which counts state tax and fee revenue but excludes federal dollars, it was forced to delay paying billions of dollars of bills that were due last month.
“Restoring the General Fund to a positive balance will depend on whether the state brings in enough revenue in the second half of the month,” said DiNapoli in a statement.
Which won’t happen as more and more Northeasterners flee to the south looking for tax relief and lower costs of living.
Reuters doesn’t see it that way though, claiming that New York is flush with money. Surprisingly (to some) the left leaning reporters blame the state’s whole financial problem on one thing – Medicaid:
The general fund paid out $20.9 billion — about 5.4 percent more than a year-ago, mainly because of an extra billion dollars needed for Medicaid. The state-federal health plan for the poor cost more this fiscal year because claims rose, a payment was delayed from the previous budget and claims climbed.
Still, there were declines in spending on health and the environment, which dropped $463 million, and other social services, which fell $335 million.
Unspoken in this of course is the MSM’s unshaken belief that Obamacare will lower these costs. That’s of course non-sense but they’ll find that out soon enough.
The real issue here is two-fold. Firstly New York has been warned that they were going to hit this wall for years and continued, under the leadership of both Democrats and Republicans and (with assists by the Green Party, Conservative party and the Libertarians) to build a massive entitlement state that is teetering on collapse. This will lead to civil unrest as up to 50-60% of that states population is completely reliant on some government subsidy to maintain their lifestyles.
The second issue is that the media sat on this information, which they knew as soon as it happened, for weeks. Why?
Civil unrest. It’s coming and the catalyst for riots in the big cities will be welfare recipients getting cut off. The government is desperately trying to hang on until the “recovery” fixes things, but that’s not going to happen. The complicit media is trying to keep the remaining New Yorkers, most of whom are the people whose care and feeding drove the productive out, from learning the bitter truth – it’s over.
But they can only hide that fact for so long. When the general public realizes that the golden years of government giving non-workers middle class lifestyles are over all hell will break loose.
Milwaukee Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs has seemingly gotten away with attempted murder. She is still on the lose and releasing “rebuttals” to accusations of trying to run down a poll worker even though her own version of the attack shows malice and reckless endangerment at best:
The Milwaukee Police Department confirmed that officers investigated a collision near a poll site Tuesday night at the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in which the driver was reported to be Coggs and a person received minor injuries. A police spokesman would not say whether Coggs was issued a ticket, whether any potential charges are being investigated or whether the case has been forwarded to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office for review.
Milwaukee Election Commission Executive Director Sue Edman told WTMJ-AM (620) radio her understanding of what happened.
Coggs showed up at the north side polling site after it closed and asked for the results in Milwaukee County Supervisor Elizabeth Coggs’ race for a seat in the state Assembly, the station reported. The two are cousins.
Edman said poll workers provided those results, but the alderwoman then asked for other results, and poll workers refused to provide them, telling her they were closing.
“Apparently, she wasn’t happy with that and they got involved in a verbal confrontation and then he told her she needed to leave the polling site and they took the incident outside and he called 911,” Edman told the station.
Coggs tried to back her car out of a parking spot, and she hit the chief inspector with her car, according to the radio station report. He was taken to the hospital.
On Thursday morning, Edman told the Journal Sentinel that a poll worker received minor injuries, but she wanted to talk to investigators before saying more. She later told a Journal Sentinel reporter that she would not have any more comment.
Kind of sounds like a cover up to me. No one is disputing that she argued with a man who was later hit by her, and police are clearly looking at charging her or they would have just denied that there was a crime. And what was said person doing when he was viciously assaulted? Getting ready to call the cops on her:
Investigators are now trying to determine if Milwaukee Alderwoman Milele Coggs hit the inspector with her car after an argument at the polls.
Election workers said the polls had closed, and votes had been counted at the King Elementary polling place, when Coggs and a relative arrived to get results for races involving three of their relatives.
“I was in the room. I saw the madness,” poll worker Jennifer Hunt-Evans said.
“Was it madness?” 12 News reporter Colleen Henry asked.
“It was madness to me. She was out of line,” Hunt-Evans said.
Hunt-Evans said the inspector gave the women some election tallies, but Coggs kept demanding numbers for other races. The inspector told her he’d given her all he could.
“She wasn’t willing to accept no for an answer. It got to the point where he said he’s calling the police. He started leading them out. We stayed in. Next thing we know, he’s on the ground. Nobody can seem to know what happened. It’s his word against theirs,” Evans said.
So a power mad local city official starts treating people like peons, they object and escort her out the building and then someone ends up getting run over just before he calls the cops. But no charges have been filed? This stinks. The Alderwoman comes from a politically connected family so frankly I say that unless there is an independent investigation, it’s a cover up.
Ironically one of the Alderwoman’s committee assignments is the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Committee. Don’t you feel better knowing people of her quality are working on those issues?
Another example of the loss of authority of our government. This is the second high profile shooting of an armed assailant at the capitol in the last year and a half:
U.S. Capitol Police officers shot a man Friday morning after he allegedly pointed a gun directly at them while walking near the Capitol.
The suspect’s condition wasn’t immediately known, according to a statement by Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. An initial report from local station WTTG indicated the suspect was shot in the abdomen but still breathing.
No officers were injured in the incident.
Officers received a radio alert around 5 a.m. that an armed man was in the vicinity and located him at 2nd and C Streets S.W.
“Fearing for their lives, officers fired their weapons,” Schneider said.
And who knows how many more crimes, as D.C. is notoriously dangerous. When a countries capitol is one of it’s worst areas, what does that mean for our future?
After a member f the Pagans MC was assaulted by Hell’s Angels the leader of the club plotted a grenade attack on the rival gang, according to an A.T.F. investigation. The Pagans, who are outnumbered by the Angels and their Mexican Mafia allies, decided not to confront the Angels directly but were planning an ambush using home made explosives which would be thrown at the Angels as they rode through Long Island:
The Pagans and Hells Angels have been bitter enemies for years, but the murder conspiracy detailed in the 31-count indictment began in August 2009 after the beating of a Pagans member.
Then-Pagans “president of presidents” John (JR) Eberling ordered the violent response and tasked the undercover agent to carry out the plot, court papers say.
The agent secretly taped a planning session at a Rocky Point, L.I. tattoo parlor that doubled as the Pagans’ headquarters.
“Eberling cautioned that the Pagans were outnumbered at present and must be ‘smart’ about attacking. He promised the ‘hammer’s still going to drop on them (the Hells Angels),'” Miskiewicz said.
The Pagans members referred to the homemade grenades as “Christmas presents” they would lob at the Hells Angels as they rode through Long Island.
Eberling, 39, of Suffolk County, was arraigned in Long Island Federal Court and ordered held without bail.
Agents recovered the nail bomb in a safe in gang member Ezra Davis’ home in Holbrook.
With municipal services facing budget shortfalls and police departments facing cuts a Pagans/Angels war is the last thing any area needs, but ironically the receding authority of the state all but assures that war will happen.
