Great News! Oakland Approves Large Scale Marijuana Farming

Who wouldn’t want to grow marijuana in a city where the police have flat out told citizens that they will not physically respond to the crimes of theft, burglary, and extortion? It’s not like the hapless hippy who opens up a pot farm would have to worry about people breaking into his business, stealing pot and shaking him down, right?

OAKLAND, California — The city of Oakland, California on Tuesday legalized large-scale marijuana cultivation for medical use and will issue up to four permits for “industrial” cultivation starting next year.

The move by the San Francisco Bay Area city aims to bring medical marijuana cultivation into the open and allow the city to profit by taxing those who grow it.

The resolution passed the city council easily after a nearly four-hour debate that pitted small-scale “garden” growers against advocates of a bigger, industrial system that would become a “Silicon Valley” of pot.

“This is going to grow as an industry. And someone is going to have a high-tech producer,” Council Member Jean Quan said during the debate.

Oakland already taxes sales of medical marijuana, but cultivation has existed in a legal gray area. Council members plan later action to levy new taxes on growers.

This is a desperate grab for tax dollars that will put people danger. California is referred to in some quarters as The People’s Republic of California because of it’s draconian gun laws and disregard for people’s right to self-defense and defense of property. So how is growing pot in Oakland going to work?

The police will not respond to calls about a thief or a worse, someone telling you they’ll kill you and your family unless you pay them. Police will respond if you defend your farm from robbers or gangs looking to “tax” you … by hauling you off to jail.

So who would farm pot in that situation? Morons.

Only a moron would open a pot farm in Oakland. I just posted video of the police being ambushed by snipers there. Oakland is almost lawless now and these pot farms will be a prize gangs will fight over as a gutted and destitute police department looks on helplessly.

Leave Oakland. Now.

Cartel Car Bomb Detonated in Juarez as Cartels Make Major Push to Control Border Region

Some see this as an escalation, but in fact it’s a declaration of intent to not just the Mexican authorities but American observers. The Cartels are using Islamist tactics and have been known to smuggle Muslim terrorists over the border. This bomb’s message is clear: war is coming to the border.

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico – A drug cartel has used a car bomb for the first time in Mexico’s decades-long fight against traffickers, setting a deadly trap against federal police in a city across the border from Texas, the mayor of Ciudad Juarez said Friday.

Mayor Jose Reyes said federal police have confirmed to him that a car bomb was used in the attack that killed three people Thursday.

It was the first time a drug cartel has used a bomb to attack Mexican security forces, marking an escalation in the country’s already raging drug war.

Federal police and paramedics were lured to the scene by a phone call reporting that shots were fired at a major intersection and a municipal police officer lay wounded at a major intersection, Reyes told The Associated Press.

As the paramedics were working on the wounded man, a parked car exploded, he said.

This is a classic Al-Qaeda tactic and the cartels wanted us to notice it. The supposed police officer at the scene was found to be an impostor, who died in the blast. Was he a “martyr” for the Cartels?

But the similarities to Al-Qaeda bombings don’t end there:

Brig. Gen. Eduardo Zarate, the commander of the regional military zone, told reporters that up to 22 pounds (10 kilograms) of explosives might have been used, although investigators were still trying to determine what type.

He said the bomb might have been detonated remotely with a cell phone, adding that burned batteries connecting to a mobile phone were found at the scene.

“From what distance? We don’t know. But we think it was a distance that allowed (the assailants) to watch the area, waiting for the police to get out of their vehicle,” Zarate said.

Again, classic Islamist tactics. Graffiti warning of more car bombs has been spotted in the city.

Meanwhile Nuevo Laredo is under siege by cartel paramilitaries:

In the northeastern border city of Nuevo Laredo, meanwhile, a series of shootouts Friday prompted the U.S. Consulate to warn American citizens in the city to remain indoors. The consulate said drug traffickers were throwing up roadblocks in at least one major avenue and were carjacking vehicles.

“We have received credible reports of widespread violence occurring now between narcotics trafficking organizations and the Mexican Army in Nuevo Laredo. We have credible reports of grenades being used,” the consulate said in a statement. “We advise all U.S. citizens in Nuevo Laredo to remain indoors until the security situation improves.”

Army officials reached by phone in Nuevo Laredo declined to comment.

It’s clear Mexico has no ability to control this region. Border dwellers should prepare themselves for an influx of refugees fleeing the violence, and a creeping front line as cartels drive out the Mexican government and set their sites on the American border towns that are known to not have the support of our own increasingly powerless federal government.

How Lawless is Oakland?

Time to Get Out of Oakland: Police Layoffs to Lead to Anarchy

I’d almost say there’s no bad guys in this one but in fact both the city and the department have been so blase about spending taxpayer money neither deserves sympathy. Of course, as usual, the people who will suffer will be the Oakland residents themselves who are being told once the layoff of around 80 officers go into effect, the police will no longer physically respond to a variety of crimes that include grand theft, burglary and identity theft. Citizens are told to report those crimes on-line:

Oakland’s police chief is making some dire claims about what his force will and will not respond to if layoffs go as planned.

Chief Anthony Batts listed exactly 44 situations that his officers will no longer respond to and they include grand theft, burglary, car wrecks, identity theft and vandalism. He says if you live and Oakland and one of the above happens to you, you need to let police know on-line.

Some 80 officers were to be let go at midnight last night if a last-minute deal was not reached.  That’s about ten percent of the work force.

The list of crimes they will no longer respond to is shocking, and frankly telling:

*  burglary
* theft
* embezzlement
* grand theft
* grand theft:dog
* identity theft
* false information to peace officer
* required to register as sex or arson offender
* dump waste or offensive matter
* discard appliance with lock
* loud music
* possess forged notes
* pass fictitious check
* obtain money by false voucher
* fraudulent use of access cards
* stolen license plate
* embezzlement by an employee (over $ 400)
* extortion
* attempted extortion
* false personification of other
* injure telephone/ power line
* interfere with power line
* unauthorized cable tv connection
* vandalism
* administer/expose poison to another’s

The vandalism is troubling because Oakland hosts a number of anarchist and communist groups who like to “smash capitalism” in a literal sense.

But take a look at the list again. A non-compliant sex offender/arsonist can break in your home, cut you phone line, steal your license plate and check books (and your dog!), use them to pretend they are you and purchase stuff fraudulently while pawning the jewelry they stole from you and the cops will not show up to take a report. Then if the person extorts money from you to get your stuff back and poisons you at the meeting, the cops are still going to be a no show.

Seriously, many of the crimes Oakland’s PD is deciding they will not show up for are the crimes committed by drug users and lefties, and in that area the two are one in the same. They are turning the city over to petty thieves and violent radicals and telling Oakland’s law abiding citizens to allow people to steal from them and break their stuff.

And that’s what they are telling them, remember California in general is not a self-defense friendly state and certainly not one where police accept the idea that you can injure others in defense of property. Store owners who fight off snatch and grabs will face charges or people who rough up a thief they catch in their car will find no police responding to his or her call for help, but a squad car coming to pull them in for assault.

Stores in Oakland should simply shut down now, rather than wait a few years as things get progressively worse. Home owners should take the loss, sell their house for whatever they can and leave to a city that will at least allow you to pepper spray a purse snatcher. Oakland is already burning, and they’ve ruin out of money to pay for water.

Get out while you can.
