America is the Greatest Country in the World!

And we can prove it by pointing to how the poorest Americans live. From The National Review on-line:

The following are facts about persons defined as “poor” by the Census Bureau, taken from a variety of government reports:

46 percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.

80 percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

Only six percent of poor households are overcrowded; two thirds have more than two rooms per person.

The typical poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)

Nearly three quarters of poor households own a car; 31 percent own two or more cars.

97 percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.

78 percent have a VCR or DVD player.

62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.

89 percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and a more than a third have an automatic dishwasher.

As a group, America’s poor are far from being chronically undernourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and, in most cases, is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than do higher-income children and have average protein intakes 100-percent above recommended levels. Most poor children today are, in fact, super-nourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and ten pounds heavier than the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II.

While the poor are generally well-nourished, some poor families do experience temporary food shortages. But, even this condition is relatively rare; 89 percent of the poor report their families have “enough” food to eat, while only two percent say they “often” do not have enough to eat.

In other words, the poorest Americans live as well, if not better, than middle class Europeans and Latin Americans. This of course is due to our free market economy, boosted by W’s tax cuts, and the American willingness to work hard to earn money for what they want. Our unemployment is the lowest on the planet and our much slandered health care industry out performs any socialized scheme in the world.

Take that Commies!

Theo Spark on Britain’s Meltdown!

He doesn’t just post pictures of beautiful women on his own blog, he does wax political on occasion and his guest rant at Jules Crittenden is a must read:

As an Englishman I am dismayed, to put it lightly, at Britain’s continuing meltdown. Our so called institutions are falling apart. The government is at best incompetent, the Anglian church ineffectual, and the poor old military-overstretched, undermanned and dangerously short of equipment. Ten years of ‘New Labour’ under the malevolentcontrol of Blair and Brown has seen our public services wrecked, the pensions of millions of diligent workers destroyed, and society falling apart. Only this week we have seen an 11 year old boy gunned down in a British city, possibly by a 12 year old. How bad must things get before action is taken. The Judiciary have lost the plot, a serial child-molester just got a community rehabilitation order, murderers are given light sentences, and illegal immigrants who commit serious crimes have their ‘human rights’ put before those of the victims. The Police spend half their time on paper work the other handing out speeding fines. Only when there is a ‘media’ driven crime is there anything done. If someone breaks into house make them a cup of tea and offer them your wife, because thats all that is going to save you!

The spin of the Blair years has now been replaced by the arrogance of the ‘Stalinist’ policies of Gordon Brown. The results will be the same just presented in a different way. Brown has had some good press coverage, coming from an acquiescent media, giving gravitas after Blair’s ‘Hollywoodisation’ of giving an interview. People are too quick to forget that almost all of Britains internal policies have been ‘controlled’ by Brown for many years-’he who holds the purse strings etc’. Money has been thrown at the public services without any regard for cost control or accountability, unheard of in the private sector, with the resulting finantial carnage we see today.

Join the U.A.C. Rally Against Islamic Fascism on September 9th!

The U.A.C. is organizing a counter rally to the extremist infested “Muslim Day Parade” which will be attended by such “moderates” as Debbie “intifada” Almontaser and accused Pakistani death squad leader Ashrafuzzaman Khan, who reportedly helped lead a pogrom against Bangladeshi civilians in the 1970’s. One website describes Mr. Khan this way:

One of the chief al-Badr (Jamai Death squad in 1971) executioners. It has been clearly proved that he himself shot to death 7 teachers of Dhaka university in the killing zones at Mirpur. A certain Mofizzuddin, who drove the vehicle that carried those hapless victims to Mirpur, has clearly identified Ashrafuzzaman as the “chief killer” of the intellectuals.

After Liberation, Ashrafuzzaman’s personal diary was recovered from his residence, 350 Nakhal Para. Two pages of his diary registered names and residential addresses of 19 teachers as well as the name of the medical officer of Dhaka University. Of those 20 persons, 8 were missing on December 14: Munier Chowdhury (Bengali), Dr. Abul Khair (History), Ghiasuddin Ahmed (History), Rashidul Hasan (English), Dr. Faizul Mohi (IE R) and Dr. Murtaza (Medical Officer).

Mofizuddin confessed that Ashrafuzzaman himself shot all of them. As per Mofizuddin’s description, the decomposed bodies of those unfortunate teachers were recovered from the swamps of Rayer Bazar and the mass grave at Shiyal Bari at Mirpur. There were also other names in the diary including Dr. Wakil Ahmed (Bengali), Dr. Nilima Ibrahim (Bengali), Dr. Latif (IE R), Dr. Maniruzzaman (Geography), K M Saaduddin (Sociology), AMM Shahidullah (Math), Dr. Sirajul Islam (Islamic History), Dr. Akhtar Ahmed (Education), Zahirul Huq (Psychology), Ahsanul Huq (English), Serajul Islam Chowdbury (English), and Kabir Chowdhury (English).

Another page of his diary recorded the names of 16 collaborating teachers of Dhaka university. Apart from that there were also names of Chowdbury Moinuddin, the chief of operation for elimination of the intelligentsia, and Shawkat Imran, a member of the central Al-Badr command, and the head of Dhaka Al-Badr forces.

The diary also contained names and addresses of several other prominent Bengali’s. All of them lost their lives at the hands of Al-Badr forces. On a small piece of paper the name of the member finance of the Pakistan Jute Board, Abdul Khalek, was written down. On December 9, 1971, the Al-Badr forces kidnapped Mr. Khalek from his office. They demanded Taka 10,000 as ransom. They saw Mrs. Khalek for ransom money. But at that time she was unable to pay the kidnappers more than 450 taka. She promised that she would give them the rest of the money later, and begged them her husband’s life. But Mr. Khalek never came back.

Ashrafuzzaman has also been implicated in the murder of some journalists. It was Ashrafuzzaman who kidnapped the shift-in- charge of the Purbadesh, and the literary editor, Mr. Golam Mustafa.

Ashrafuzzaman Khan, was a member of the Central Committee of the Islami Chhatra Sangha. After liberation he went to Pakistan and worked for Radio Pakistan. Recently Ashrafuzzaman has moved to New York and presently heads the Queens branch of Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)

Joe Kaufman and Beila Rabinowitz have more on what’s being called the Islamist day parade in Frontpage.

The U.A.C. counter rally parade route will begin at promptly 12:00 noon at Madison and 41st and will end at Madison and 23rd. Bring your flags and join in!

Support Terror Free Investing

Debra Burlingame’s brother was the pilot of flight 77 that was hijacked on 9-11 and flown into the Pentagon. She is now lending her voice to a growing movement to get American pension plans to divest from Iran and other terror supporting states. From CNS:

Charles F. “Chic” Burlingame III was the pilot in command of American Airlines flight 77 – one of the planes hijacked by terrorists on Sept. 11, 2001 and crashed into the Pentagon.

Today, his sister, Debra Burlingame, is lending her voice to a national movement that advocates consider the most peaceful means of combating terrorists: calling for states to withdraw their public pension money from companies doing business with Iran.

“One of the things I’ve done for the last six years is read up on who these people are,” she told Cybercast News Service. “I found they are telling us who they are and what they are doing. But a lot of people here and in Western Europe don’t want to listen. For me, the divest terror project is a moral imperative.”

The initiative is growing in popularity, as Missouri, Florida, Illinois, and Louisiana have approved measures to take public pension money out of Iran and Sudan. Meanwhile, California appears poised to do the same with widespread support in the state legislature and support from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Burlingame, a co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America and a board member of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, has traveled to Ohio, where the state legislature there is considering a divestment initiative.

She is also traveling around Washington meeting with media and other organizations to raise awareness about the issue.

Burlingame’s hope is for a terror free investment index, just as there is an index for people with environmental concerns and those with tobacco concerns.

Such a fund is in the early stages, but Burlingame and others are working to get the word out to people that their retirement savings are going to support companies doing business with terrorist regimes such as Iran.

“I don’t think it can initially succeed if people don’t know about it,” Burlingame said. “People I talked to didn’t know” about the investments in Iran. “It never occurred to them this was happening,” she added.

It’s a worthy goal and one that should be supported by every American. Does your pension plan fund jihadism? If you’re not sure, shouldn’t you find out and make sure your hard earned money isn’t supporting threats to the lives of your children and grandchildren?

America Needs Another 9/11? I Don’t Think So

That’s what columnist Stu Bykofsky argues in this op-ed piece. He’s lamenting the lack of patriotism and cohesion in the American political landscape and in some respects he’s right. America has turned on itself and lost sight of the war we’re facing, the war we’re losing. Right and Left, we are all to blame because we won’t unite to save our civilization from a brutal enemy that recruits our own children through via Internet while the A.C.L.U. argues we shouldn’t be reading terrorists e-mail. America is the free worlds best hope for a Sharia free future, but somewhere in the political squabbling between the right and the left we’ve lost sight of that big picture and now we are attacking each other and letting the enemy gather strength here and abroad.

But to say we need another 9/11 is too much, it is beyond the pale. What America needs is leadership, not just from President Bush but from all our elected officials. We can argue and fight over internal politics, but we need to stand united against those who seek to enslave the world, who even now are committing genocide in Darfur, trading slaves in Saudi Arabia and planning a second holocaust. If Democrats and Republicans stand together, admitting that they have some key differences that divide them on domestic issues, but they are united in their belief that all people, Americans or not, deserve to be free from the tyranny of Taliban style rule, I think the American people would follow.

It is a small minority of Americans who believe that Al-Qaeda’s vision of the world, a vision they share with hundreds of other Islamist organizations, is acceptable. But we look to our leaders to articulate our stances, our hopes for a free and peaceful world where men and women of all races are accepted as equals. But instead we inundated with pseudo-Marxist propaganda from the left and a chaotic chorus of conflicting positions on the right.

Now is the time for America to speak with one voice, to work for one goal the liberation of world from oppression. The enemies of freedom are the enemies of us all, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian or Anarchist. They must be faced, they must be defeated and the world must be cleansed of the plague of violent Jihadism, Fascism and totalitarianism.

Some may argue that our nation is too weak and spoiled to live up to our responsibility to stop the Jihad before it truly becomes a world war, they say that we need another horrible attack on our soil to stiffen our spines, we need more blood spilled in our streets and more death in our cities. When that day comes, what will they then say? Will they crow and laugh and tell us all “I told you so!” Instead Stu Bykosfsky should use his bully pulpit to ensure that there isn’t another 9/11. Stu and others like him should be providing the leadership that our elected officials cannot and rally Americans, all Americans, to the defense of our flag, our country and our world.

To do otherwise is to invite another 9/11, and no American wants that to happen.
