Theo Spark on Britain’s Meltdown!

He doesn’t just post pictures of beautiful women on his own blog, he does wax political on occasion and his guest rant at Jules Crittenden is a must read:

As an Englishman I am dismayed, to put it lightly, at Britain’s continuing meltdown. Our so called institutions are falling apart. The government is at best incompetent, the Anglian church ineffectual, and the poor old military-overstretched, undermanned and dangerously short of equipment. Ten years of ‘New Labour’ under the malevolentcontrol of Blair and Brown has seen our public services wrecked, the pensions of millions of diligent workers destroyed, and society falling apart. Only this week we have seen an 11 year old boy gunned down in a British city, possibly by a 12 year old. How bad must things get before action is taken. The Judiciary have lost the plot, a serial child-molester just got a community rehabilitation order, murderers are given light sentences, and illegal immigrants who commit serious crimes have their ‘human rights’ put before those of the victims. The Police spend half their time on paper work the other handing out speeding fines. Only when there is a ‘media’ driven crime is there anything done. If someone breaks into house make them a cup of tea and offer them your wife, because thats all that is going to save you!

The spin of the Blair years has now been replaced by the arrogance of the ‘Stalinist’ policies of Gordon Brown. The results will be the same just presented in a different way. Brown has had some good press coverage, coming from an acquiescent media, giving gravitas after Blair’s ‘Hollywoodisation’ of giving an interview. People are too quick to forget that almost all of Britains internal policies have been ‘controlled’ by Brown for many years-’he who holds the purse strings etc’. Money has been thrown at the public services without any regard for cost control or accountability, unheard of in the private sector, with the resulting finantial carnage we see today.

IDF Not Ready for War?

13 years of budget cuts have left the I.D.F. undermanned and under equipped for conflict, according to a DEBKA report:

Since the beginning of the week, Israel’s top military commanders have been poring over the situation of the Israeli Defense Forces in a workshop called by Ehud Barak who took over as defense minister two months ago. Some of their most alarming findings were presented by Barak at his first news conference in Tel Aviv Monday, Aug. 21 in advance of the ministry’s presentation of its budget requirements.

Not all of the findings were news after disastrous deficiencies were brought to light in the ill-managed 2006 Lebanon War against Hizballah. But the negligence was now frankly traced to 1994 and 13 years of budget slashes by one government after another, including the one headed by the defense minister himself. They have left Israel’s armed forces deprived of the three security capabilities which Barak deems essential to Israel’s survival in a hostile environment: deterrence, early warning and victory.

To restore these capabilities, Barak outlined a program, the highlights of which are to reconstitute two disbanded reservist divisions, improve tank armor to withstand armor-piercing missiles and effective, active interception measures to protect the population against enemy rocket fire.

DEBKAfile’s analysts note that, for the present, the IDF offers early warning – but not deterrence; the burning drive to prevail over the enemy was seen wanting in the Lebanon War and missing in dealing with the plague of missile and mortar attacks from Gaza, the daily fare of the neighboring Israeli population.

Senior officers told our sources: “The IDF is not only short of funds to meet its objectives, but also lacks sufficient manpower. It would take at least 10 years to rebuild and retrain the armed forces. The question is: what do we do in the meantime?”

Read the rest here. With Islamic imperialism on the march in the middle east, word that our allies may be unable to hold their ground is cause for alarm. Let’s hope for more Republican seats in the next election, so that our friends in Israel are at least guaranteed support from America, even if they can’t expect it from their own military.

Iranian Offensive Against Kurdish Communists Continues!

From IMRA:

Hundreds of Iraqi Kurds have
fled remotemountain villages near the country’s eastern frontier as Iranian
gunnerstarget separatist guerrilla bases, local officials said yesterday.
“About150 families have left eight villages. We are very concerned about
thesituation in the area. If the shelling continues, we may have to declare
anemergency situation,” said Hussein Ahmed, governor of Qalaa Diza
district

This comes after Iran dropped leaflets warning Kurds of the offensive:

Kurdish sources said Iran’s military has dropped leaflets into Iraqi Kurdish villages that call for their immediate evacuation. The leaflets warned the Kurds of impending Iranian military strikes.

“The authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran will work on cleansing this area,” the leaflet said.

On Aug. 20, Kurdish sources said an Iranian military helicopter was shot down by Kurdish insurgents near the Iranian-Iraqi-Turkish border. The helicopter was said to contain at least six Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officers assigned to direct attacks against the Kurds.

The leaflets were distributed in the northern province of Irbil on Aug. 19 as Iranian troops began deployment along the Iraqi border. Kurdish sources said Iran appeared ready to launch an offensive against Kurdish insurgents from the so-called Party of Freedom of Life, which demands autonomy for Kurds in Iran.

The sources said Iranian forces were deployed near the Iraqi town of Haj Omran. The military operation was said to have been coordinated with Turkey.

“Our enemies, mainly the Americans, are trying to plant security hurdles in our country,” the Iranian leaflet said. “They achieved this through using agents in the [Iraqi] areas of Kandil and Khaneera inside the Kurdish region.”

Iran’s offensive may be aimed at the PKK, a Kurdish Communist insurgent group, but the timing coincides with France’s promise to help stabilize the region, and perhaps a Baathist alliance with coalition forces, which may put the Iranians in a position where they need to step up the violence to avoid having another “occupying force” left if the Dem’s get their way and pull out. This is likely a message to France and anyone else thinking of attempting to help Iraq, “We’re shelling the Kurds and America can’t do anything about it, what are you going to do?” A message that strong may shake French resolve to intervene.

The PKK are no angels however, and are basically a Communist Narco -terror outfit who’ve been able to fill in the gap for a weak and ineffective Kurdish resistance in the minds of Kurds. America may be unwilling to intervene to protect PKK interests because in the long term an armed and powerful PKK is a threat to our interests.

A heart wrenching Kurdish call to arms can be found here, and will help explain why a violent Communist group is able to garner support from the mainstream Kurds. A spirited defense of the PKK can be found here. There’s no doubt that the PKK is influential on the ground, American forces may be making a mistake by not coming to their aid.

More Jihadist Propaganda on YouTube

This time it’s an almost hour long Hizb-ut-Tahir agi-prop vid designed to call the Muslim world to battle against the west. For you Ron Paul supporters out there this video should prove to you that the list of grievances the Islamists use as an excuse to hate us didn’t start with modern American policy, but go back to the destruction of the Caliphate. They will accept nothing less than the reestablishment of the Caliphate and the subservience of the west to a Caliph, and that you should find as unacceptable as they find us.

The video is posted by this ‘Tuber, who has his own “production company” that distribute Islamist propaganda.

Iran Shelling Kurdish Territory in Iraq!

They’re apparently angry that the Kurdish Worker’s Party, a revolutionary Marxist-Leninist group, shot down an Iranian helicopter which was ferrying in weapons to Iraqi insurgents. From Gulf Daily News:

BAGHDAD: Iran is building up its troops near the Iraqi border and is shelling the remote northeast borders.

Two women were injured in the shelling in the Kurdish area of Iraq for the last three days forcing evacuation of 200 families, Hussein Ahmed, the mayor of Qal’at Dizah town close to the Iranian border said.

He said several thousand Iranian soldiers could also be seen near the border.

There was no immediate comment from Tehran or Baghdad on the reports.

Earlier, the Iranian news agency Mehr said an Iranian army helicopter which crashed near the border with northern Iraq had been engaged in a military operation against the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK), an offshoot of the PKK. Iranian media said six military personnel were killed in the crash, which happened during manoeuvres involving Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards on Friday.

With the Democratic swing to the far left, it’ll be interesting to see if they back the PPK’s right to defend themselves, or are they willing to throw their Marxist allies in Iraq to the Islamist wolves?
