Melvin Blevins Update: Toddler Forced to Smoke Pot also had Cocaine in her System

Remember Melvin Blevins? He and his 16-year-old girlfriend video taped themselves forcing a toddler to smoke pot in what was the one of the most shocking crimes we’ve seen in the last few months. It gets worse however, as there are reports that the toddler, who was Blevins’ niece, tested positive for Cocaine in her system:

The video was seen around the world: A toddler was given a pipe to smoke marijuana.

Though well-watched, the videotape still was hard to watch.

It showed 16-year-old Angel Dailey and 18-year-old Melvin Blevins allegedly giving a toddler a marijuana pipe. Dailey pleaded guilty to the crime Friday, NBC 4’s Mike Bowersock reported.

The video of the toddler was found at a pawn shop. NBC 4 learned in court Friday that the 2-year-old little girl had not only marijuana in her system but cocaine, too.

The article relates the plea deal 16-year-old Angel Dailey accepted for her role in the crime and interviews the toddlers mother, who had left the child with her ex-husband and didn’t know Blevins was going to be “caring for” the little girl:

“That was family. She shouldn’t have done that to family,” Amber Pruitt, the child’s mother, said.

Dailey said the child’s uncle is the man in the video allegedly trying to get the toddler to smoke marijuana.

Pruitt told Bowersock she remembered the first time she saw the video of her daughter smoking marijuana from a pipe.

“I almost got sick. I started crying,” Pruitt said. “I was in my living room. I had no idea about any of it. She was with her father for a few months because my mother had passed away … I really thought she’d be safe in the care of her father and her grandmother. I didn’t even know she was left with her uncle.”

Blevins, the boyfriend, was charged in federal court with even more crimes, including drug and gun possession.

The judge in the case was waiting for mental tests to be done on Dailey before sentencing her.

Waiting for tests no doubt because Dailey comes from a family of pot dealers and there is likely a question as to whether she was exposed to Marijuana early enough for it to stunt her development.

I’m thinking yeah, that’s probably the case.

  2. im speeking out on the behalf of my brother. im not going to say much just that the information posted is incorrect.

  3. What informations is incorrect? There’s a video of Blevins giving pot to a baby, the kid tested positive for coke and Blevins and his old lady were dealing for his old lady’s father. Where am I wrong?

  4. I’m with my sister on this one. I’m not going to say much, because what we do say is always mixed around by the news and making it sound like we said something diffrent. I will say He is an 18 year old child that is being tried for a crime he didnt commit. For Rob Taylor, How in the world do you get that Blevins gave the child coke? Is he evern on trial for that. No i didnt think so. And Yes just abouit all the information posted is incorrect, Your not his family so you dont know. Keep your comments to yourself!

  5. Uh. Did you read the article? I “got the idea” the kid tested positive for coke because your local NBC affiliate reported that fact. Are you saying they were lying? Or are you lying to yourself? Or just to the public?

Again I challenge one of you to prove something in the article is incorrect. Nothing is, you just hope if you claim that people will believe you.

And an 18-year-old is an adult Jennifer, but even if he was under 18 how old do you have to be to know it is wrong to force an infant to smoke pot?

  6. In many places online or in this world Mr. Taylor you would be known as a “troll” due to your incompetence and blaming pot on all the world problems. I do not see you posting threads like “for the millionth time a junkie dies of an overdoese” ” drunk driver dies”. And so what that the kid had pot in his system, he would smoke it when he/she is 14 anyway looking at the place where he/she was growing up. Not saying kids + pot = good, but getting a kid drunk is much worse then giving a kid faster heart rate and the munchies. And everyone knows that news is there to make sensationless news, they make money on things like “a 3 year old takes heroin!!” when you have a relative saying the truth because they have no reason to lie because they arent going to make profit off this.

  7. That’s not what troll means. A troll is a person who comes to a site specifically to be asinine in the comments. You’re the troll in this instance.

  8. Oh my God, Ive read like 5 of thee stories and my jaw kept dropeding. Ha, Why are such unbelievable stories made? Just a personal guess, but I thik its the Goverment needs public support for All the arrest made. And its not, the Goverment is evil, its that they’re terrible at omitting mistakes. Would you like to be the one who tells America sorry for arresting so many husbands, or igniting gang related income over something so harmless. Few TRUE facts
Thomas Jefferson preffered bud over alchool and the dude could like speak 11 languages and pretty much wrote the still modern constitution.
“Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security, will not have, nor do they deserve, either one…Some of the best times of my life is when I sat back and smoked on my hemp.” is Jefferson a worthless stoner, rob???
Caffine kills 2,000 people yearly(and that dosent include those who fall asleep on a bay after their coffie crash, its the heat attack resulting from a few cupps)
    Asprin kills 500 yearly
how many direct deaths as a result of weed. rob I know you know, 0!!!
my mom, masters in physics with a plenty good pay check, is far from a worthless stoner (I didnt figure she was untill 15). Smoke weed then go on a 5 hour hike drink some beers then smoke some more weed. Or be like half the kids at my school who weight 200+ and only social life is World of War craft and their mom.

  9. Coffee crash? “Heat” attacks after a few cups? I’ll assume there’s some legitimate reference you can point to that claims people have heat strokes or heart attacks after a few cups of coffee.

And are you really claiming that these stories are made up? And that violent gangs wouldn’t exist if pot was legal?

I’d say put the bong down, but instead I’ll say that the last part, which implies you and your mom may have gotten high together when you were 15, is pretty much the saddest thing I’ve ever read.

  10. My bad…’heart attacks’……true though
No just buds influence is made up
Ive never smoked smoked with my mom to aquward bro

  11. bud has positive effects and it dosenttttt kill people!!!!!cafines addiction potential is like 5 times greater than but to. first time buds legalization was an issue, the supreme courts ruling was as long as America is free so will be the use of marijuana, comparing it to alchool or a pack of cigs. Than a 100 years later society got all stupid an outlawed it resulting in the 14,000,000,000 dollars spent this year on the drug war.butttt Dont worry its all borrowed fron Chinia witch America is 9,000,000,000,000 in debt to.

  12. Ha dude bud is sooooooooo harmless.
‘Why would I assume pot isn’t good for you’ its not good for you its like eating Mc Donalds, moderation is the key and responsibility. If your 700 pounds and need a diaper its much like if you just watch tv + video games, all day smokin. But McD’s shouldnt be illegal???

  13. Finally i am sooo glad other ppl see how the news puts a different title to get more viewers. i love my brother and yes he was a child he was 17 when this happened…and ROB that is a child.

  14. Why are these stoners arguing about this case a year after it was posted? Did Blevins finally get a day in court? Is there an update on this case?

  15. I can honestly say I’m shocked that there are people defending giving drugs to a baby. Saying that he/she would “do it anyway” when they are older is a bullshit excuse. That reads like an argument for pedophilia. . . but whatever pot is harmless, unless you count the fact that it turns you into a total brain dead moron.

  16. All of you except his sisters dont know wtf you are talking about. It was a mistake of a little kid and yes it was wrong but melvin is a GOOD PERSON who knows the difference between right and wrong and i DONT THINK HE SHOULD BE SPENDING 15 YEARS OF PRISON FOR IT. ESPECIALLY SINCE HE IS ONLY 18. all of us miss him alot and the court system needs to relize that an 18 year old is not capable of all the accomplishments don dailey had made…Melvin didnt have anything to do with that and If the law was smart they would know that. instead they are using our tax money to put people away who doesnt need to be there. enough said.

  17. Yeah. 18 is old enough to vote and decide to smoke pot in your opinion, but not old enough to accept the consequences for your actions. Sounds like drug use inhibits your ability to be treated like an adult.

So what? When are people adults in your opinion?

  18. I feel as if 17 years old is a responsible age to know that u dont Force a baby to do DRUGS!!!!! I have a 3 year old daughter about the same size as the girl in the video & i was deeply disturbed by this…so much i ddnt finish watching! As far as the 15 year sentance i feel thats fair in this case, being that the PUSHER dident learn not to give kids drugs in the 1st 17 years of his life, mayble he will learn this in the next fifteen!

  19. OMG – I truly cannot believe that these people are defending the actions of this guy. Not only is he an enabler but he Forced THIS CHILD TO SMOKE POT. I can tell you that my 11 year old would sure know the difference between right and wrong and things to do and NOT DO while you are caring for a baby.

For those of you that say that pot does not hurt you, how would you like to be the spouse of the construction worker that lost his life because the crane operator decided to have “just a hit” off his pipe to settle his nerves before going up in the cab of the crane a 100 feet or more off the ground. Getting high is certainly a preventable liablity which is why most of your companies do random drug testing these days. You all that think it’s okay are just a bunch of morons.

  20. I feel I should add something to this. Although I feel it was extremely wrong what was forced upon this toddler, I also cannot fathom a mother leaving her child for a “few months”. I understand her mother passed away but once all the arrangements were taken care of and the goodbyes were said at a ceremony, how could she not return to her child and the responsibility of being a mother. She would have missed sooo much of her child’s firsts, being a toddler and all. I suppose if she needed psychiatric help and was committed that would be reason enough to leave her child for a few months but other than that I cannot fathom it.

  21. Nobody on here is bashing pot… just bashing the idea of an 18 month old toddler smoking pot.. which is completely wrong.. and to assume the kid will grow up smoking pot anyways?? some people like to choose to better themselves and to take make a clueless infant smoke pot? might as well be taking away their virginity aswell..
