Victimless Crime File: Women Crossing Border Illegally Targeted for Abuse by Drug Smugglers
Here’s a convergence between two “victimless” crimes that seem to produce scores of victims. The so-called “immigrant rights” advocates are nothing more than modern day slave masters advocating for the flooding of America with millions of vulnerable and desperate people who will be taken advantage of. Drug legalization advocates ignore both the inherent vileness of drug gangs and the fact that repealing prohibition didn’t make the mafia disappear. Both groups have no concern for the safety of people they help put in danger.
Here’s what happens when poor people are lured here by leftists and open border libertarians who could care less what happens to them while crossing the same desert the criminals they buy their drugs from lurk in:
Two female illegal immigrants from Guatemala said Thursday that they had been raped earlier this week by a group of armed drug smugglers.
The women, ages 18 and 28, were apprehended along with a group 38 earlier this week but didn’t tell anyone about the sexual assaults until Thursday morning while meeting with an assistant U.S. attorney in preparation for a deportation hearing, said Mario Escalante, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman.
They gave the following account: A group of men dressed in black and carrying backpacks intercepted the group as they were walking through the desert on Monday night. The men pulled the two women aside and sexually assaulted them. One women said a man put a pistol to her head.
Officials notified the Guate-malan Consulate in Phoenix about the incident. The women were still set up for formal removal proceedings, Escalante said.
It’s the second report of women being raped by drug smugglers and third report of violence against women on the desert trails in the past week.
On May 4, three Mexican women, ages 16, 17 and 20, told agents that they had been raped by masked, armed bandits the day before.
On May 6, the Border Patrol encountered two Nicaraguan women, ages 41 and 36, near Milepost 20 on Arivaca Road who were visibly injured and dehydrated.
They said they had been badly beaten by a guide, or coyote, when they asked to slow down, Escalante said.
They were then left behind in the desert.
Let’s be clear. The gun that was held to these women’s head while they were raped, and kept their fellow travelers from intervening, was purchased with drug money. The money you give to people to buy your pot helps rape the illegals you pay slave wages to mow your lawn. That’s not what I call a victimless crime.
Repealing Prohibition won’t solve the problem either. As drug gangs lose their main revenue they’ll use the cache of weapons and funds to move into new territories. From the AZstar:
Drug-fueled home invasions, kidnappings and other violent crimes have surged in Tucson recently, echoing the drug war raging in northern Mexico.
As law enforcement cracks down on smuggling along the border, officials say, traffickers increasingly are turning to more desperate measures to continue their criminal activity.
In some cases, smuggling groups turn on each other, finding it easier to steal from competitors than bring drugs across the border themselves.
And although the violence is most likely to hit those engaged in drug-related activities, there’s always the risk that it will spill over and involve innocent people — a possibility that local law-enforcement agencies are scrambling to confront.
The violence is driven in part by the massive amount of drugs flowing through Arizona, officials say.
Although it’s one of four states along the U.S.-Mexico border, 60 percent of illegal drugs that end up in the country come through Arizona, said Tucson Police Department Capt. Terry Rozema, commander of the multiagency Counter Narcotics Alliance.
Drug trafficking always has been a brutal trade, but lately the violence is on the rise, officials say.
In response, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, now assisted by the U.S. Border Patrol, recently created two border-crime units that target human and drug smugglers in rural areas.
The growing threat in the city prompted the formation last month of a home-invasion unit, staffed with a sergeant, five detectives, a crime analyst and a clerk, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt, the unit’s supervisor.
“The criminal element recognizes it’s probably easier to obtain a large quantity of narcotics or cash from someone who’s already done the hard work of shipping the product and finding a place to store it,” he said.
In other words, repeal prohibition and allow your local bodegas to sell weed and those bodegas will become death traps for everyone daring to cut into the cartel’s business.
But of course prohibition isn’t stopping the violence either. Mary Anastasia O’Grady has a great article in WSJ that talks about American demand for drugs destabilizing Mexico:
The upshot: Americans underwrite Mexico’s vicious organized crime syndicates. The gringos get their drugs and the Mexican mafia gets weapons, technology and the means to buy off or intimidate anyone who gets in their way. Caught in the middle is a poor country striving to develop sound institutions for law enforcement.
The trouble for Mexico is that, even if it understands that U.S. demand is not going away, it cannot afford to cede large swaths of the country to the drug cartels. Thus Mexican President Felipe Calderón has made confronting organized crime a priority since taking office in December 2006. His attorney general, Eduardo Medina Mora, told me in February that the goal is to reclaim the state’s authority where it has been lost to the mafias.
But after 17 months of engagement, while San Diego students party on, victory remains elusive and the Mexican death toll is mounting. Most of the drug-related killings since Mr. Calderón took office seem to be a result of battles between rival cartels. Still, the escalating violence is troubling. The official death toll attributable to organized crime since the Calderón crackdown began now stands at 3,995. Of that, 1,170 have died this year.
Especially alarming are the number of assassinations among military personnel and municipal, state and federal police officers. The total is 439 for the 17 months and 109 so far this year. Many of these victims have been ordinary police officers whose refusal to be bought off or back off cost them their lives.
But as the murder of police chief Millan makes clear, high rank offers no safety. Two weeks before he was gunned down, Roberto Velasco, the head of the organized crime division of the federal police, was shot in the head. The assailants took his car, which leaves open the possibility that it was a random event, but most Mexicans are not buying that theory. Eleven federal law enforcement agents have been killed in ambushes and executions in the last four weeks alone.
If U.S. law enforcement agencies were losing their finest at such a rate, you can bet Americans would give greater thought to the violence generated by high demand and prohibition. Our friends in Mexico deserve equal consideration.
The only real solution would be for Americans to stop buying so much pot, to boycott the cartels the way we boycott companies whose policies we don’t like. But Americans are spoiled and used to receiving their instant gratification and college aged kids will no more give up getting high to save some Mexican lives than they are likely to not have unprotected sex to avoid catching AIDS. Pot smokers will continue funding the destruction of Mexico, and when the cross border violence becomes intolerable they’ll demand action from the government.
But when we demand action from them, the people that fund the cartels, they’ll always fall back on the “it’s a victimless crime” argument.

Melvin Blevins Update: Toddler Forced to Smoke Pot also had Cocaine in her System
Remember Melvin Blevins? He and his 16-year-old girlfriend video taped themselves forcing a toddler to smoke pot in what was the one of the most shocking crimes we’ve seen in the last few months. It gets worse however, as there are reports that the toddler, who was Blevins’ niece, tested positive for Cocaine in her system:
The video was seen around the world: A toddler was given a pipe to smoke marijuana.
Though well-watched, the videotape still was hard to watch.
It showed 16-year-old Angel Dailey and 18-year-old Melvin Blevins allegedly giving a toddler a marijuana pipe. Dailey pleaded guilty to the crime Friday, NBC 4’s Mike Bowersock reported.
The video of the toddler was found at a pawn shop. NBC 4 learned in court Friday that the 2-year-old little girl had not only marijuana in her system but cocaine, too.
The article relates the plea deal 16-year-old Angel Dailey accepted for her role in the crime and interviews the toddlers mother, who had left the child with her ex-husband and didn’t know Blevins was going to be “caring for” the little girl:
“That was family. She shouldn’t have done that to family,” Amber Pruitt, the child’s mother, said.
Dailey said the child’s uncle is the man in the video allegedly trying to get the toddler to smoke marijuana.
Pruitt told Bowersock she remembered the first time she saw the video of her daughter smoking marijuana from a pipe.
“I almost got sick. I started crying,” Pruitt said. “I was in my living room. I had no idea about any of it. She was with her father for a few months because my mother had passed away … I really thought she’d be safe in the care of her father and her grandmother. I didn’t even know she was left with her uncle.”
Blevins, the boyfriend, was charged in federal court with even more crimes, including drug and gun possession.
The judge in the case was waiting for mental tests to be done on Dailey before sentencing her.
Waiting for tests no doubt because Dailey comes from a family of pot dealers and there is likely a question as to whether she was exposed to Marijuana early enough for it to stunt her development.
I’m thinking yeah, that’s probably the case.

Victimless Crime File: World’s Greatest Mother Stabs Friend, Pays Babysitter in Marijuana
I know, I know, this all would have happened regardless of how often these people got high. From The Sun-Gazette we have the story of Dina J. Jackson, who stabbed her buddy after an argument about marijuana. The same marijuana she used to pay the babysitter of her five-year-old daughter:
MIDDLEBURY CENTER — Dina J. Jackson, 45, of 11784 Route 287, Middlebury Center, faces several charges in connection with the alleged stabbing of Chad Orvek early Wednesday morning.
During her arraignment before District Judge Phillip Sweet Wednesday afternoon, Jackson was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of children, and intimidation of witnesses or victims and possession of instruments of crime.
According to the state police affidavit, around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, Orvek arrived at Jackson’s residence with Tonya Walker after being out at a restaurant.
Police say Orvek and Jackson got into an argument, allegedly over marijuana, which turned physical when Jackson pushed Orvek and then he pushed Jackson down.
As Walker tried to pull Orvek off Jackson, he knocked her into the television stand.
Orvek then turned toward Jackson and she ran into the kitchen telling him to get out of her house.
Walker opened the door and tried to push Orvek out.
As he was leaving, he turned to yell at Jackson.
Walker said she was pushed by Jackson, and then she noticed an object in Jackson’s hand.
Jackson immediately washed it and put it in the dish drainer. Orvek was by that time outside the residence yelling that he had been stabbed and needed help and Jackson was on the phone with police.
Walker related that Jackson told her that Orvek probably hurt himself to get them into trouble, to which Walker responded that was not what had happened, and that she had stabbed him. Walker then related that Jackson told her to say she didn’t see anything, that she had washed the knife and “there is no evidence.”
Walker said Jackson also told her to “watch out” if she told police anything differently.
Jackson’s five-year-old daughter was at the residence at the time of the incident.
Police said Jackson paid the babysitter with half of the marijuana that she and Orvek had purchased together.
Hey, what’s wrong with leaving your five-year-old daughter with a babysitter you pay in drugs in the apartment you where some dude you score weed with likes to visit? I mean, it’s not like the person who takes drugs in lieu of money for services rendered can’t be trusted, right? It’s not like for some extra weed they’d turn a trick with your drug partner in front of your kid, is it?
The “restaurant” Orvek and his friend were coming home from was actually a tavern according to this report. And yes, this all took place in a mobile home.
Don’t worry about Chad “I’ll fight women in front of kids” Orvek though, he’s been released from the hospital and is as O.K. as I guess he’s ever going to be.

Victimless Crime File: Pot Smoking Degenerates Toy with Necrophilia
Well, technically they aren’t suspected of necrophilia per se but we all know these things happen in baby steps. From The Chon:
Two men and a juvenile are accused of digging up a corpse, decapitating the body and using the head to smoke marijuana, according to court documents.
Matthew Gonzalez and Kevin Jones have been charged with the misdemeanor offense of abuse of a corpse, said Scott Durfee, a spokesman for the Harris County District Attorneys Office.
According to documents filed in the case, Gonzalez, Jones and an unnamed juvenile on March 15 went to an Humble cemetery, dug up a man’s grave, left with the head and turned it into a “bong.”
Gonzalez told authorities about the incident Wednesday, and showed officers the defaced grave, including a 4-foot hole. Because of a heavy rain, officers were unable to determine whether the casket or the body had been disturbed.
Just good clean fun right tokers? But don’t worry, this has nothing to do with pot. After all Brian77008 says in the comments:
This is disgusting. But make no mistake. Pot did not make these guys go out and dig up a corpse and do this. They did it because they are inherently bad people.
Of course. I recall hundreds of cases where “bad people” dug up graves and stole skulls to drink beer out of or eat their cereal from. Getting high has absolutely nothing to do with what police suspect to be up to four people stealing a skull to smoke pot from. Nothing.
The Chron has a longer article on the story detailing how this ring of petty thieves ended up getting caught. Police believe the person who originally admitted tot the desecration, Kevin Wade Jones, thought it would distract police from questioning him about car break-ins. Really:
The Kingwood teenager’s story of decapitating a corpse and using the head to smoke marijuana was so outlandish that at first Houston Police Department senior police officer Jim Adkins did not believe it.
Yet, Kevin Wade Jones Jr., 17, appeared almost indifferent as he relayed the bizarre description of his and two friends’ activities at an Humble area graveyard, Adkins said.
“I just doubted it because it’s very morbid, and I couldn’t see anybody doing something like this,” Adkins said Thursday.
Not until police went to the home of another Kingwood 17-year-old, Matthew Richard Gonzalez, did the officer believe the tale.
“He regurgitated in his plate of food when I asked him about it,” Adkins said. “So I knew there was some truth to the story.”
Now, Jones, Gonzalez and a juvenile whose name has not been released are each charged with abuse of a corpse, a misdemeanor. All three were arrested Wednesday night.
Police said a fourth suspect is wanted for questioning.
[…]
The teens first came to police’s attention during a vehicle burglary investigation. While being questioned, Jones told of desecrating the gravesite a month or two ago. Adkins said he believes the tale was intended to distract police from the vehicle break-in.
Jones claimed he and his friends used shovels to dig up the body and removed the corpse’s head with a garden tool, Adkins said. Jones also revealed he and the other two boys took the severed head to the juvenile’s home, where they used the skull as a “bong” to smoke marijuana, the officer said.
Read the rest. The grave the cops found disturbed belonged to an 11-year-old boy named Willie Simms who died in 1921 and the graveyard may or may not be set aside for Black WWI and WWII veterans who died. No one seems to know much about it.
Hmmm. Desecrating the grave of a child in a mysterious cemetery no one maintains or knows anything about. Sounds like a great idea unless you believe in vengeful spirits haunting the living.

Degenerate Pot Smoker Robs Church Poor Box While Attending A.A.

Most people hit rock bottom before going to Alcoholics Anonymous but 20 year old Matthew Corwin does things his way:
A Long Island man attending an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at a church swiped $40 from the parish poor box to buy marijuana, police said.
“He just needed the money. He was using it for drugs,” Suffolk Police Lt. James Gruenfelder said. “It’s pretty desperate to be stealing from the poor box.
“He probably would have had better luck had he asked for assistance from the clergy.”
Cops arrested Matthew Corwin, 20, after recognizing him from surveillance video of two heists at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Islip, police said.
He pleaded not guilty yesterday to two counts of petty larceny and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief at his arraignment in Suffolk County 1st District Court in Central Islip.
Corwin was released without bail.
A source close to the case said Corwin was attending AA meetings at the Hunter Ave. church. He would carry the freestanding poor box into the church rest room, then kick it open, the source said.
He stole money in January and again on Saturday, police said. Each time, the unemployed Corwin swiped $20, cops said.
Gruenfelder noted the impracticality of the crime.
“It’s not going to change your life to get $40,” he said, “but taking $40 can sure change your life.”
And they say weed isn’t habit forming. I guess it’s just normal behavior for a guy to sneak out of his A.A. meeting, steal a poor box and buy some pot.
But c’mon, at least he wasn’t drinking…
