At Least 17 Armed Incursions by Mexican Soldiers and Police into America Last Year

Judicial Watch used FOIA to get a hold of a Border Patrol report entitled “Mexican Government Incidents-2006 Fiscal Year Report” which details at least 17 incidents of armed Mexican military or police personal making unauthorized incursions into American territory:

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released a U.S. Border Patrol report titled, “Mexican Government Incidents – 2006 Fiscal Year Report,” obtained under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). But for Judicial Watch’s September, 2007 FOIA request, this information would not have been made public. The report describes 29 confirmed incidents in 2006 along the U.S.- Mexican border involving Mexican military and/or law enforcement personnel, 17 of which involved armed Mexican government agents. Among the incidents cited:

MEXICAN MILITARY ENCOUNTER (ARMED/INTENTIONAL) EL PASO – FORT HANCOCK STATION – At 2 P.M. on January 3, 2006, [Troopers] attempted to apprehend three vehicles believed to be smuggling contraband on I-10…As the vehicles approached the border, [Troopers] stated that a Mexican Military Humvee armed with a .50 caliber weapon and several soldiers were seen assisting smugglers return to Mexico…Officers then noticed several armed subjects dressed in fatigue type clothing unload the contraband into the Humvee. These subjects set fire to the stalled vehicle before leaving the area…

MEXICAN POLICE INCURSION (ARMED/INTENTIONAL) TUCSON NOGALES STATION – On June 2, 2006, a Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Nogales, Arizona station encountered two Mexican Police Officers that had illegally entered into the U.S. one mile west of the Mariposa Port of Entry…the Mexican Police Officers ran back into Mexico when ordered [by Border Patrol] to remain for questioning.

MEXICAN MILITARY INCURSION (ARMED/INTENTIONAL) EL CENTRO SECTOR – CALEXICO STATION – On September 16, 2006, a Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Calexico, California Station observed an individual in an olive drab uniform with a possible Mexican flag on the shoulder approximately 100 yards north of the International Border near the Calexico POE. The individual appeared to be carrying a sidearm and was running southbound to Mexico through the vehicle lanes of the Calexico POE.

The document also states that between 1996 and September 30, 2006 there were 253 confirmed incursions into the United States by Mexican government personnel.

Judicial Watch also has reports of similar incidents for previous years available. Read through them thoroughly and see if afterward you can convince yourself that we don’t need a border fence.

More Guns = Less Crime

Looks like th N.R.A. is proved right yet again. From Freep.com:

Six years after new rules made it much easier to get a license to carry concealed weapons, the number of Michiganders legally packing heat has increased more than six-fold.

But dire predictions about increased violence and bloodshed have largely gone unfulfilled, according to law enforcement officials and, to the extent they can be measured, crime statistics.

The incidence of violent crime in Michigan in the six years since the law went into effect has been, on average, below the rate of the previous six years. The overall incidence of death from firearms, including suicide and accidents, also has declined.

More than 155,000 Michiganders — about one in every 65 — are now authorized to carry loaded guns as they go about their everyday affairs, according to Michigan State Police records.

About 25,000 people had CCW permits in Michigan before the law changed in 2001.

John Lott, a visiting professor at the University of Maryland who has done extensive research on the role of firearms in American society, said the results in Michigan since the law changed don’t surprise him.

Academic studies of concealed weapons laws that generally allow citizens to obtain permits have shown different results, Lott said. About two-thirds of the studies suggest the laws reduce crime; the rest show no net effect, he said.

But no peer-reviewed study has ever shown that crime increases when jurisdictions enact changes like those put in place by the Legislature and then-Gov. John Engler in 2000, Lott said.

The cops in Michigan are trying to spin their original panicky announcements that anarchy would result from issuing carry permits to the unwashed masses by saying “things weren’t as bad as they expected” when if fact for the average citizen things became a lot better as criminals decided against risking their lives to prey upon victims who might be armed.

Gun availability decreases crime. It’s a scientific fact.

Diana West on the Muslim No-Go Zones in England

The Death of the Grown-Up author Diana West has an excellent post on the Muslim run areas in England where non-Muslims fear to go , the firing of the Pentagon Islamic Law and Extremism and the philosophical No-Go Zone that made both possible:

Today, in the Sunday Telegraph, a Pakistani-born bishop of the Church of England, the Rt. Rev. Michael Nazir-Ali, offers further confirmation of the progressing Islamization of Europe with a column discussing Muslim-only districts that exist throughout Great Britain–so-called no-go zones, where non-Muslims may expect to be harassed and/or attacked for “trespassing.” We in the United States tend to regard this reverse colonization of Europe from a metpahoric and literal distance, cordoned off by ocean and, more important, smaller Islamic demographics.

But there is no security against creeping sharia in such distance–not when we so willingly, so pliantly, so cravenly, abide by No-Go Zones of the Mind.

Does the doctrine of Islamic jihad, which for centuries has animated aggression against the non-Islamic world–including the United States of America from its early nationhood (see this important backgrounder by Andrew Bostom)–pose a threat to Western-style liberty?Horrors! We don’t go there. In fact, that’s No-Go Zone of the Mind #1. It’s also the one Stephen Coughlin was fired by the Pentagon for daring to cross into and take back.

Does the spread of sharia through both Islamic terrorism and Islamic immigration threaten Western-style liberty? That’s No-Go Zone #2. And there are many more.

No Bias Here: MSNBC Reports on Evil Jews and Brave Muslim Terrorists

There’s so much wrong with this report I don’t know where to start. Maybe where MSNBC implies that Palestinian mortar and rocket attacks into Israel are in response to Israeli incursions or perhaps I should start with the part where they show the frightened Palestinian children running in terror from the (conveniently off camera) Jews:

Funny, Charles Johnson hasn’t proclaimed them Nazis yet. I guess MSNBC is less threatening to Jews than the CVF.
