The Case Against McCain and for Fred Thompson

John McCain has stood side by side with Democrats and authored assault after assault on our free speech and individual liberty. Here’s a short list of leftist bills sponsored by McCain that run not just counter to mainstream Republicanism, but are anti-American at their core.

Fred Thompson stands in stark contrast to McCain as a man who values conservative principles over the feel good bi-partisanship endorsed by McCain. He in fact stands in stark contrast to all the Republican front runners and is the clear choice of any voter who loves our country more than they love faddish political stands:

Pat Sajak Solves the Global Warming Crisis

Behind that smarmy game show host smile genius is at work. Pure, unadulterated genius:

There are apparently tens of millions of people around the world who are convinced global warming is real, and mankind (particularly American mankind) is responsible. Further, they believe utterly catastrophic results are imminent unless we drastically alter our lifestyles — and soon. These alterations include the things we eat, our transportation, our daily work and leisure habits, and even the number of children we should have. The problem is there are also tens of millions of people around the world who are skeptical of this theory, and, despite one side’s claims the debate is settled, a significant and growing number of climate experts keep challenging their conclusions.

So, those who believe disaster is around the corner face a dilemma: while they’re educating their fellow citizens and demanding governments regulate believers and non-believers alike, the problem continues, and the date of the world’s doom draws ever closer. But there is a solution. It’s relatively simple, can begin immediately, and will change the dynamics of global warming overnight. Instead of continuing to preach to the rest of us, the true believers need to step forward and set an example. I’m not talking about recycling Evian bottles; I’m talking about giving up cars and moving into smaller houses or apartments, or even forming communes where people can live simpler, more Earth-friendly lives. Yes, I’m talking about living the kinds of lives they want all of us to live.

Such a movement could literally start tomorrow. It would need a leader, of course; someone who could inspire others to choose a more spartan lifestyle. The obvious choice would be Al Gore, who already has a loyal following. If he would eschew large homes, gas-guzzling cars, private jets and the consumption of meat, millions more would likely do the same. If enough people joined the cause, Mr. Gore and his followers would be able to demonstrate the results of this new way of living in very short order. They could lead by example. They could create a movement. They could have uniforms and badges and secret handshakes. The could have their own reality TV show. In short, they could become a major force for change. Carmakers would be driven out of business or forced to dramatically alter their products to meet the demands of this eco-friendly Gorian tsunami. Companies of all stripes would, similarly, have to adapt or perish.

Read the rest. It makes perfect sense and would reduce man made global warming if it exists while allowing the hippies who worship Gore to live the neo-tribal lifestyle they truly want the rest of us to live.

I’m not holding my breath though.

Democratic Mayor of Boston Seeks to Block Affordable Private Health Care for the Poor

If a multi-million dollar corporation opened minor care clinics in select locations where flu shots were available daily, vaccines were administered and a variety of non-critical services were available at prices so low even the poorest American could pay out of pocket (though most insurance plans are excepted) you’d expect the caring citizens of the left would applaud the company’s dedication to good corporate citizenship.

You’d of course be wrong:

Mayor Thomas M. Menino embarked on a highly public campaign yesterday to block CVS Corp. and other retailers from opening medical clinics inside their stores, an effort that exposed a rift between Menino and the state’s public health commissioner, a longtime ally.

Menino blasted state regulators for paving the way Wednesday for the in-store clinics, which are designed to provide treatment for sore throats, poison ivy, and other minor illnesses.

The decision by the state Public Health Council, “jeopardizes patient safety,” Menino said in a written statement. “Limited service medical clinics run by merchants in for-profit corporations will seriously compromise quality of care and hygiene. Allowing retailers to make money off of sick people is wrong.”

In a separate letter, Menino urged members of the city’s Public Health Commission to consider barring the clinics from Boston. CVS executives said they plan to open 25 to 30 MinuteClinics in Greater Boston before the end of the year, although they have not specified how many of those will be within the city’s limits.

The Boston Public Health Commission spent nearly an hour discussing the impending arrival of the clinics and ways they could potentially be stopped.

The panel took no action, but instructed the health agency’s attorney to investigate whether it could adopt regulations forbidding stores with clinics from selling tobacco products, forcing them to make an untenable financial choice. The city says 31 CVS stores and 56 other pharmacies in Boston have city-issued licenses to sell tobacco.

In a statement issued last night, executives of MinuteClinics said they “would be happy to talk to Mayor Menino about any of his concerns.”

“We at MinuteClinic are committed to providing convenient, affordable access to quality health care,” the statement said.

Ignore for a moment the Mayor’s astounding ignorance about the quality of health care in his mythical non-profit health care system (the one where doctors work for free). Minor illness clinics are a life saver for poor people and relieve the burden of non-essential care complaints from the municipal health care system.

I grew up poor and as I struggled through college and grad school, clinics like DOCS and the ones CVS want to put in helped me to afford to treat minor conditions and get my needed vaccines without having to skip meals. These sorts of programs help poor people and once the pink eye/poison ivy/minor burn treatments are taken care of in CVS, emergency rooms will thin out and be better equipped to handle emergencies.

Don’t laugh, I once took a kid from the Brooklyn YMCA to the emergency room for stitches. Bleeding out of her eyelid, this brave little girl waited in the emergency room for at least three hours. Probably more because I left when her family finally showed up. The majority of people in front of her were people with minor injuries and sicknesses.

Check their website and see how useful this service is. Too useful for Democrats I guess, who see their pet issue slipping away as the free market offers better solutions than socialized medicine.

So who really cares about poor people?

This is Why I’m With Fred

Mike Huckabee is basically a European style Christian Democrat while Mitt, Rudy, and McCain have all abandoned Republican principles at one time or another and will do so again.

The less said about Ron Paul the better.

Only Fred Thompson embodies the values of the Reagan Revolution and is willing to fight for freedom and individual rights at home and abroad as this clip shows:

As a (newly arrived) South Carolina resident my vote was always meant for Thompson, and I hope to vote for him in the general election. I urge anyone who believes in Federalism, individual rights and a strong America to do the same.

Polish Immigrants Persecuted By Muslims in England

Polish immigrants, many of whom are Catholic, are being terrorized by a Muslim campaign of vandalism, intimidation and violence. The English media is bending over backwards to avoid admitting that this is a persecution of devout Christians by Muslims who see them as a threat to their growing hegemony.

From The Yorkshire Post

A clash of cultures between Asian and eastern European youths is leading to increasing tension and violence on Yorkshire’s streets, it is claimed.
Some young Britons of Asian descent are now leading a campaign of intimidation against the new economic migrants from eastern Europe, whom they claim are taking their jobs.

The situation has become so bad in cities like Bradford that a leading social think-tank has begun research into how to get the two sides working together.

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has commissioned Bradford-based organization QED to identify the causes of tensions between the two groups and improve cultural understanding and communication between them.

The article goes on to whitewash the facts and avoid what is an unpleasant truth, namely that “Asian” citizens simply don’t want Christian Europeans coming to what they now think of as “their” areas.

“Asian” is of course a euphemism for the large Pakistani Muslim population. The Muslims have made great inroads in England, especially in creating an environment where they enjoy special status in the eyes of the law. Part of that status comes from the clever manipulation of the multiculturalists view of immigrants a special protected class.

The Polish immigrants challenge the Muslim community by presenting the public with a new pet protected class, one who share more values with the rest of the English public and thus will ultimately assimilate into England more readily.

Once a group of immigrants assimilates into England in a stemless way, Muslim demands for England to accommodate a separate Islamist culture will look ridiculous. A successful Polish immigrant community is a threat to the Imperial aspirations of radical Muslims in England and ate thus in grave danger.

Winds of Jihad has more.
