“SuperMoon” Set to Cause Chaos this Month?

The “SuperMoon” phenominon was made popular by a professional astrologer, consequently it’s not taken very seriously. AccuWeather ran an interesting piece on the theory that explains the basics and points out that if it’s true, we’ll know in about a week and a half:

Coming up later this month (March 19 to be exact) the moon will make its closest approach to Earth (called lunar perigee) in 18 years. A new or full moon at 90% or greater of its closest perigee to Earth has been named a “SuperMoon” by astrologer Richard Nolle. This term has been recently picked up by astronomers. An extreme “SuperMoon” is when the moon is full or new as well as at its 100% greater mean perigee (closest) distance to earth. By this definition, last month’s full moon, this month’s and next month’s will all be extreme “SuperMoons”.

[…]

I have read several “new age” forecasts that go something like this: “Extreme SuperMoon this month (March 2011) will bring strong earthquakes and storms and/or unusual climate patterns.” Google the term ‘extreme SuperMoon March 2011’ and see for yourself what comes up. The validity of these types of forecasts can be debated ad nauseum.

There were SuperMoons in 1955, 1974, 1992 and 2005. These years had their share of extreme weather and other natural events. Is the Super Moon and these natural occurences a coincidence? Some would say yes; some would say no. I’m not here to pick sides and say I’m a believer or non-believer in subjects like this, but as a scientist I know enough to ask questions and try to find answers.

We obviously know that there are scientific laws that say the moon affects the Earth (i.e. tides). There are also less proven theories that propose that the moon affects the Earth in other ways (i.e. abnormal behavior during a full moon). Can the Super (full) Moon contribute to extreme weather and other natural phenomenon?

AccuWeather Facebook fanpage member Daniel Vogler adds, “The last extreme super moon occurred was on January 10th, 2005, right around the time of the 9.0 Indonesia earthquake. That extreme super moon was a new moon. So be forewarned. Something BIG could happen on or around this date. (+/- 3 Days is my guess)”

I too am agnostic on this. I don’t discount the ability of the moon to cause disturbances on Earth but I am also aware of the, shall we say loose standards, that the professional astrology profession has for admission. I say this as a practicing neo-Pagan by the way.

Robert Noell’s website is here. Judging from the design and hosting options I’m going to guess his business isn’t good.

Noell’s theory is interesting however. And as Gothamist points out SuperMoons do coincide with some pretty major disasters:

Some believe that a bad moon is indeed on the rise: the New England hurricane of 1938 and the Hunter Valley floods of 1955 both happened during lunar perigees. And Cyclone Tracy in 1974 and Hurricance Katrina in 2005 also coincided, or came very close to coinciding, with SuperMoons.

For those of us that believe the moon can exert influence over people’s behavior (we used to be called superstitious, now we’re “open minded”) it’s interesting to note that as the moon enters this phase there’s been a sharp rise in civil unrest in the middle east and America. A liberal threatened to blow up a building Scott Walker was in and union goons actually tried to attack Republican lawmakers at lunch.

I’m not saying that there is or isn’t any truth to “Moonagheddon” but if there is be prepared not just for disasters but panic on the streets and more civil unrest. If you prep and you’re wrong what’s the big deal?

Post Office Will Run Out of Money in October

Guess what the biggest drain on their coffers is:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Republican-controlled House opened the envelope of postal finances on Wednesday and what it pulled out wasn’t pretty.

Unless things change, the post office will run out of money by the end of the fiscal year in October, Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe told the House Oversight subcommittee on the postal service.

Donahoe said that as of Sept. 30 his agency will owe the federal government a payment of $5.5 billion to fund medical costs, in advance, for future retirees, and in November it will need to make a $1.3 billion payment for worker’s compensation.

“The Postal Service will not have the cash available to make both of these payments. We need legislation this year to address that fact,” he said.

If it does come down to crunch time, said Donahoe: “We will deliver the mail.” Employees will be paid, as will suppliers, he said. “The thing we will not do is pay the federal government.”

Benefits are destroying the county. When will people wake up?

Zombie Apocalypse Begins – Euthanized Puppy Rises From Dead in Oklahoma City

The above picture – complete with glowing blue eyes – is the untouched photo of Wall-E the zombie dog. He was “put to sleep” on Saturday and came back to life on Sunday. Though infested with hookworms (which is why they put him down) he’s completely healthy after being dead for a day. This is how it starts people:

SULPHUR, Oklahoma — He was euthanized, declared dead and left in a dumpster, but somehow a three-month-old puppy is alive and now has whole new future ahead of him.

Wall-e, along with the rest of his litter, was left outside the Sulphur dog shelter. He and his littermates were put to sleep because they appeared to be very sick. The vet checked their pulse and declared every one dead. But the next morning, Animal Control Officer Scott Prall looked in the dumpster and saw Wall-e wandering around.

“He was just as healthy as could be,” Prall said, who added Wall-e was named after the Pixar robot who was the last of his kind.

Local vet Amanda Kloski, from the Arbuckle Veterinary Clinic, took him in. After a Pennsylvania woman heard his story and put it on Facebook, the veterinary clinic was inundated with calls from all over the U.S. and even Canada of people wanting to adopt Wall-e.

“He needs a really special home because he’s really special,” Kloski said.

Yeah, special. Like maybe members of Zombie Squad?

I Told You to Stay Away from the “American Dream” Rallies

Called it. The pro-Union, communist organized “American Dream” rallies that happened this weekend were used by radical elements to whip up hatred and incite violence on the part of the Left. The following is a list of some of the most egregious assaults on innocent bystanders by these left wing “revolutionaries” who are interested only in creating chaos and mayhem.

Read through them and pay particular attention to who gets targeted by these people and why. In the long run these degenerates will attack anyone, but while these rallies are ongoing they are only the build up for the civil unrest that the Left wants. The violence will, in the coming weeks, be selective. Once food and gas prices go up all bets are off. Get armed and armored. A nice thick leather jacket should be in every wardrobe these days – to protect from slashes, scrapes and fireworks.

Here’s the left wing of the country in action:

A pedophilic Union thug was caught on video threatening to rape a 17-year-old boy.

Fox News reporter Mike Tobin was assaulted by “protesters” in Wisconsin.

A Tea Party member was attacked and injured by a member of Teamsters Local 439 by the name of Richard Andazola.

In Atlanta a union thug was caught on camera blindsiding a Tea Party activist and shoving him into a wrought iron fence before running (really more of a lumbering) off. The police witnessed the incident and not only did nothing but allowed the goon to escape while preventing the Tea Party members from pursuing.

The Kansas AFL-CIO organized a campaign of sexual harassment against female legislatures and staff members according to the local GOP who have video of the incidents.

Ann Althouse found Wisconsin protesters desecrating a war memorial, and capitol police refused to do anything about it except demand that they not be filmed.

Hundreds of police in Wisconsin actually joined the communists in solidarity – and stood by and did nothing as adults got children high at the capitol building.

All that goodwill didn’t do cops in Seattle much good as anarchists went on a wild rampage using flares, fire extinguishers and fireworks to assault police. The anarchists (who seem to be a Black Bloc collective) posted their own after action report on a local anarchy site. No one was injured, but at least one of the fireworks that were thrown at police could have injured people if it had detonated near them.

So as I said, I told you to stay away from crowds protesting, especially if they’re on the left. if you’re going to be in the area or if these protests spread toward you take some precautions to protect yourself from lightly armed but violent mobs. Think bear spray to drive them from your property, or paintball markers with rubber “practice” balls (be careful, this could be considered a weapon in blue states – check your laws) have been used successfully to disperse crowds by police. If you have to navigate place where these crowds are gathering you’d be surprised how much protection a good motorcycle jacket offers.

These crowds will eventually turn on your houses and cars so be prepared, but remember their strategy is to not use guns and knives so that they are still protected by police when you respond. It is not by accident that the left leaves their guns at home while rioting – they’ve learned their lessons. Non-lethal defense is going to be your first and best option against these crowds.

Police Concerned Over New “Flash Mob” Robbery Trend

Another sign of the collapse of our civil society. Store owners be aware of this trend:

On Saturday, St. Paul police say 50 kids swarmed a Holiday store on Wabasha, a so-called mob theft or mob robbery. They stormed in together, their numbers overwhelming and just started stealing.

“They steal your basic convenience store type of goods and run out,” says St. Paul Police Department spokesperson Andy Skoogman.

It’s the second incident like it in St. Paul in less than six months. Last fall, surveillance cameras at a BP station on Lexington captured some 20 kids coming into the store at the same time. They stole merchandise and one of them assaulted the clerk on the way out.

Police worry about this kind of mob behavior because there have been similar incidents in other cities.

[…]

The mob robbery at the Holiday store happened just before a shooting incident down the street where two people were injured. St. Paul police are looking into whether the two cases are connected.

The police are calling it mob mentality but the truth is it’s worse than that. The authorities are losing their ability to keep the piece. Here’s a video report:
