More Detroiters Taking Responsibility for Their Own Safety

Justifiable homicide, what normal people call self-defense but what one writer at The Daily calls vigilantism, is up in Detroit 79% from 2011. It’s a common complaint around these parts that Detroit police and some of the suburbs have a shameful 911 response time. One woman didn’t get a response until the next day!

Rick Ector of Rick’s Firearm Academy of Detroit discusses these issues with Cam Edwards of NRA News in the video below. He says that the typical students coming to him for instruction now are first-time gun owners. Many of them were once reluctant to have anything to do with guns.

In an overwhelmingly blue area of the state and nation, Rick’s pro-gun business is booming. There has been the usual anti-gun rhetoric aimed at Detroiters for the longest time. But if the statistics are anything to go by, then more Detroit citizens know they can’t rely on anyone else but themselves for help. And with the help of people like Rick Ector, they seem to be developing a not so blue state attitude towards responsible gun ownership.

CDC Warns of Growing Super Gonorrhea Threat

It’s almost as if having sex with the drugged out skanks you meet at a club or the dirty, homeless hippies you meet in an Occupy encampment is a bad idea. From U.S. News and World Report:

Gonorrhea, one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the United States, is increasingly showing resistance to one of the last known effective antibiotic treatments, leading researchers from the Centers for Disease Control to “sound the alarm” about potentially untreatable forms of the disease.

“During the past three years, the wily gonococcus has become less susceptible to our last line of antimicrobial defense, threatening our ability to cure gonorrhea,” Gail Bolan, director of the CDC’s sexually transmitted disease prevention program, wrote in The New England Journal of Medicine last week.

According to the CDC, gonorrhea has a long history of developing immunity to antibiotics, but doctors have always had a stronger medicine up their sleeves to treat patients. Not anymore—about 1.7 percent of gonorrhea is now resistant to cephalosporins, the last line of defense against gonorrhea. That might not seem like much, but it’s a 17-fold increase since 2006, when about one tenth of one percent of gonorrhea was believed to have resistance to cephalosporins.

According to Bolan, the strains are showing up most often in the western states, where 3.6 percent of gonorrhea has shown resistance to cephalosporins, and in men who have sex with men, with nearly 5 percent of gonorrhea showing resistance.

Ah, the “wily gonococcus” that strikes without warning . . . mostly in liberal strongholds and at bareback parties. Here’s a thought – the bacteria isn’t “wily” we as a society are just disgusting, wallowing in unclean practices and unsafe sex. I assure you that gay men who are in long term committed relationships do not have incidents of this “wily” gonorrhea, despite what critics of the late Herman Slater would have you believe. Why? Because if you don’t want a STD the only sure way to get it is to not have sex with anyone except on exclusive partner who doesn’t have it.

Now, before some of you “feminists” start about the United States not having good sex ed I know at least three people who were told they couldn’t get an STD if they just had oral sex. And this by supposed sex ed teachers. We all know that’s a load of crap, right? OK I know you actually don’t know that, which is why we’re looking at new strains of super gonorrhea.

Want some real information on how to avid super gonorrhea:

If this is what your potential partner thinks is family time:

She’s got super gonorrhea, don’t have sex with her.

Ladies if you meet a guy at a club, protest, coffee shop, women’s studies course, PETA meeting, Ron Paul meet-up, concert or on the subway he has super gonorrhea. Do not have sex with him.

For my gay friends out there it’s best to assume everyone at your favorite cruising spot has super gonorrhea. Don’t have sex with them.

For ladies and gentleman – if someone offers to get you high they have super gonorrhea. Do not have sex with them.

In fact, maybe everyone should stop having sex with people they don’t particularly know well  – at least until we figure out this super gonorrhea thing. Maybe people can start (gasp!) dating without sexual activity and getting to know each other before trading potentially fatal bodily fluids. I know how “fascist” that sounds but give it some thought.

25 Vials of E. Coli Found in Arkansas Apartment

The media and the government are being coy about this but it looks like it’s terrorism related. From MSNBC:

A maintenance man cleaning out a newly vacant apartment in Jonesboro, Arkansas found 25 vials of E. coli bacteria in the refrigerator, according to reports.

The vials marked “E. coli” were in a foam box in the fridge at a Willow Creek Apartments unit, The Associated Press reported. After the facilities manager alerted authorities, an Arkansas National Guard hazardous material crew removed the bacteria.

The bacteria were determined to be medical grade, Fire Battalion Chief Marty Hamrick told the Jonesboro Sun.

While E. coli can cause diarrhea, urinary tract infections and pneumonia, officials determined there was not enough of a safety danger to evacuate the apartment complex, the AP reported.

The FBI is reportedly getting involved. KAIT8 spoke with a Arkansas State University assistant professor named Bill Payne who talked about the legitimate research uses for E. Coli which include testing antibiotics and using modified versions to clean heavy metals from contaminated water sources. However all these things need to be in controlled environments:

However, Payne said, there are few uses for the bacterium outside of a controlled environment.

“For a private citizen to have it, I can’t think of any reason why he would have it, and why you would keep it in the refrigerator is even more baffling because you just don’t keep bacteria in your refrigerator with your food. It’s a good way of getting your food contaminated.”

[…]

“A private citizen would find it very difficult to get that, and that’s mainly because of the problem that we have now with security bioterrorism agents.”

Funny he should mention that because these E. Coli farmers were not citizens:

A tenant recently moved out and apparently left the vials in the fridge.  Dunn said from what they understand the people that lived in the apartment were from outside the United States.

The authorities are floating some story about the E.Coli being used to treat heavy metal poisoning in the body. In an apartment. By people from outside the United States who they won’t identify. Sounds reasonable.

Don’t drink the water in Arkansas.

Losing Our Community

This video is a couple of years old but needs to be widely circulated. It is produced by Americans for Peace and Prosperity and the Tennessee Freedom Coalition and deals with the radicalization of the Muslim community in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s a scary video that includes an interview with the father of Carloes Bledsoe – a promising young man who converted to Islam and went on to murder a soldier in a terror attack on a Little Rock, Arkansas military recruitment center. The father believes the local Muslim organizations brainwashed him, sent him to Yemen and had him set up:

Illegal Immigration to Blame for Longmont High School TB Outbreak?

Looks that way. First some background – Longmont high school has made the national news because of “unusual” rates of tuberculosis. From TimesCall.com:

LONGMONT — About 40 percent of Longmont High School students and staff tested for tuberculosis have had positive results, a Denver Public Health official said Wednesday.

Dr. Randall Reves, director of the Denver Metro Tuberculosis Control Program, said that rate is unusual, but not unheard of.

“It just reflects that (the student’s) particular case of TB was more infectious than average,” Reves said.

Some types of sputum carry more bacteria than others, making those patients more contagious, he said.

Latent TB, unlike active TB, is not contagious. So far, the original case — which was made public in early January — is the only active case found in the school, Reves said.

TB cannot be transmitted unless a patient is actively ill, he said.

“They cough the bacteria into the air,” Reves said. “It takes a lot of bacteria being coughed into the air to cause infection.”

Because the rate of latent TB being found at the school has been higher than expected in the first two groups of students and staff tested, Reves has decided to test everyone at the school.

Beginning next week, public health officials will start testing ninth- and 10th-graders. To speed up the testing, skin tests will be given to most people, he said.

The following week, officials will test the 11th- and 12th-graders who have not yet been tested, he said.

This sort of TB develops into the active, fatal type in 5% of cases. It is treated with four months of antibiotics.

What’s this got to do with illegal immigration? Well, remember that one of the problems with illegal immigration is that the illegals don’t go through the medical screening and treatment of legal immigrants. In the late 90s, for example, I was working as a part time tutor at the college I graduated from when there was a TB scare caused by a Haitian immigrant who for some unknown reason had not been screened when entering the country. The college wouldn’t release the girls identity and instead just asked everyone who had contact with a Haitian to be screened for TB. That was what Liberals thought was more politically correct.

Telemundo covered the testing and you may have caught a glimpse of a rougeish fellow with a highly decorated motorcycle jacket and quite dashing knee high leather boots getting the ‘ol skin prick.

Anyway this was my “aha!” moment when I realized there was a very good reason to have a good, organized immigration system.

Longmont is home to a large illegal population blending in with a quickly growing Latino population. In 2010 Longmont had a Hispanic population of 17%, which was an increase of 10%. Currently that population is over 25%. In a close knit, family oriented culture (all positive things by the way) undiagnosed communicable diseases are a real danger to both the insular and the outside population.

There needs to be some sort of outreach to the illegal community that makes them understand how important this issue is. No matter where you fall on immigration we can all agree on that.
