Surprise! Jamiel Shaw’s Murderer a Latino Gangbanger

I get the occasional email or comment insinuating that my coverage of Latino hate crimes against my fellow Americans of African descent somehow skews the data and makes it look like there’s a problem with racism in Latino communities when there is none. I guess it is my insistence that our government protect Black citizens from third world aggression coloring my perceptions of yet another murder of a young Black person by a Latino gang banger with a long history of criminality, because I think this is most certainly a hate crime.

From the L.A. Times:

A young convict and alleged gang member had been released from jail a little more than a day before he shot and killed Los Angeles High School football star Jamiel Shaw Jr., LAPD Chief William J. Bratton said Tuesday.

On the same day mourners attended the 17-year-old’s funeral in the Crenshaw district, authorities announced that the alleged gunman, Pedro Espinoza, 19, had been formally charged with Shaw’s death. Espinoza, according to officials, is a member of the 18th Street gang and had spent nearly four months in a Los Angeles County jail for exhibiting a firearm and resisting arrest before he was released March 1, 28 hours before Shaw’s death.

“It was spontaneous,” Bratton said of the killing. “He was a gang member. He saw someone else he thought was from an opposing gang and he immediately, almost intuitively, popped out of that car and shot that young boy twice.

“He assassinated him just on the belief the other individual may have been a gang member. That is what we are up against in this city, sociopaths like that who just got out of jail and within a day had a gun and in an instant took that young boy’s life.”

The charge of murder with special circumstance enhancements could carry the death penalty.

Shaw, who was not a gang member, was only three doors from his home in Arlington Heights on March 2 when he was fatally shot. Two men in a car had pulled up next to him, asked if he belonged to a gang, and then shot him when he apparently didn’t answer, authorities say.

Notice how little respect for the law Pedro Espinoza displayed in his short life, and the vile arrogance of a man who, only out of jail for a few hours, just randomly decides to hop out of a car and shoot somebody he suspected of being in a gang. And by suspected we of course mean Jamiel was Black and Espinoza just assumed he was a gang member.

At least that’s the media narrative, the real truth is that the Mexican Mafia has green lighted any Black person at any place at any time for murder. Rumor is most other Latino gangs have followed suit. It’s less likely that Espinoza really thought Shaw was a gang member and more likely this was a hate crime.

Not that the MSM will report that. Instead they prefer a narrative where Blacks are responsible, at least in part, for being targeted by Latino gangs. It helps them sleep at night when their support for liberal immigration policies facilitate the mass murder of African-Americans.

Latino Gangbangers Shoot 6 Year Old Boy in Head for Being Black

I got a ridiculous comment on this post yesterday from some racist named Jose Cuenca that implied that Latino gang violence aimed at terrorizing Black Americans was nothing to be alarmed about and further more the only solution was to sit back and let the situation play out. A final solution so to speak.

Cuenca’s main point was that the “undocumented” had it worse than the Black Americans who are being murdered, and that my simply reporting the situation was making things worse.

Not worse for innocent Black folk getting murdered by Latino gangbangers mind you, but the people who really deserve our sympathy, you know, the ones whose first act on American soil was to break our immigration laws. I’ll let his vile words speak for themselves:

As for your “medias biases,” that’s absurd. Many Latino’s in America are either undocumented, or just a few generations removed from undocumentation. As a result, they live in a state of paranoia and do all they can trying to avoid law enforcement for fear of deportation. You think being Black in America is difficult, try to imaging living with the constant fear of deportation. As a result, many crimes towards Latinos are not even reported do to this same paranoia. When that poor 14 year old Black girl was killed by 204 Street Gang Members, it received a lot of attention (as it should have, horrible incident!), but they failed to mention that it was done in retaliation for a young Latino boy who killed just a week earlier by Black Gang Members.

His minimizing of the murder of a 14 year old girl by linking it to gang violence she wasn’t involved in is absolutely disgusting, but par for the course for people like Cuecna. After all one Black kid is the same as the next in his estimation, so an innocent little girl is no more unlikely a target than a violent felon. To Cuecna a Latino gang members yarn about killing a child as “retaliation” for something or another is an acceptable explanation for the most degenerate of acts.

Is there nothing someone like Jose Cuecna can accept? Is there no act of depravity from his precious “undocumented” and their descendants that he finds unpalatable? How about this:

A 6-year-old black boy was critically wounded Tuesday when he was shot in the head by suspected Latino gang members as the victim’s family drove through the Harbor Gateway neighborhood on their way to an auto auction, Los Angeles Police Chief William J. Bratton said.

Two Latino males flashed gang signs before opening fire on the red GMC Yukon with six people inside, including a woman who is eight months pregnant, Bratton said. The rear window of the SUV was shattered by the gunfire, and one of the rounds hit the boy in the head, he said.

The shooting caps several weeks of violent incidents believed to involve gangs around Los Angeles County that have sparked both fear and anger in some neighborhoods. Earlier this week, a Los Angeles High School football player was gunned down in what authorities described as an unprovoked attack by gang members. Last week, a gang member opened fire at a bus stop in South Los Angeles, wounding eight people, including five children. Before that, a gun battle between LAPD officers and gang members outside a Glassell Park school caused much of the community to be locked down for hours.

Police said the family of the victim in Tuesday’s shooting was not from the Harbor Gateway neighborhood, which is known for racial tensions between Latino gangs and black residents. Other passengers inside the vehicle were a man and a woman and two other children, ages 3 and 1 1/2 .

There were no other reported injuries, police said.

Police cordoned off two blocks Tuesday afternoon as they launched a massive search for the two suspects, one described as between the ages of 28 and 30, heavyset, wearing a white T-shirt and black pants; the other, between ages 16 and 20, with a shaved head and possibly a mustache, wearing blue jeans and riding a racing bicycle.

Bratton did not say whether the suspects had ties to a specific gang, but he noted that the neighborhood is home to the East Side Torrance gang. “This is an area that is under the influence of a Latino gang,” Bratton said. “You may recall that about a year or so ago, the mayor and I were engaged in a major initiative up the street at 204th Street, where there had been the shooting death of a young black woman.”

Bratton was referring to the killing of 14-year-old Cheryl Green in December 2006. Two members of the 204th Street gang allegedly shot Green as she stood talking with friends.

The suspects were later caught and charged with murder, along with a special hate crime allegation. They are still awaiting trial.

A carload of mostly women and children was fired on by two men, one of whom is at least 30 years old and so we assume not naive enough to think an SUV with a pregnant woman and a bunch of kids is a legitimate gang affiliated target.

There were no other injuries. Almost as if the two men aimed for the kid. And this follows several unprovoked attacks in an area controled by a gang that has members already being charged with hate crimes.

But according to Jose Cuecna it takes two to tango and Blacks are responsible for their being targeted:

Hmmmm. So you feel this problem is attributed just to the influx of Latin American Culture being forced into historically African-American Communities? Interesting and naive. I agree it’s a clash of cultures but to suggest it’s one sided is moronic! It takes two opposing sides to create a clash.

Hopefully this problem will fade out with a limited amount of death and violence. I won’t pretend that I know how to fix it, I though I wish I could. If you have any desire to fix it, please stop covering it! This type of journalism is just fuel to the fire.

In other words Jose wants to claim Blacks are equally responsible for these attacks despite the lack of evidence to the contrary, and there’s nothing else to see here so I should just move along. Move along and wait until it’s some member of my family that’s being murdered, or I’m sure Jose is hoping that it’s me laying dead somewhere.

Disgusting.

Hate Crimes Skyrocket in NYC

Hate crimes against Blacks and Jews increased in NYC, bastion of liberalism. Odd I thought New Yorkers were so much more tolerant then we “red staters” but here in my new home in the deep dark south we’ve barely had any crime at all. From Newsday.com:

Hate crimes rose by 52 percent against blacks and 35 percent against Jews in New York City last year, according to statistics provided by police at a Bronx forum Tuesday.

In the lone bit of positive news, anti-gay crimes dropped, though only by 2 percent.

Experts attributed the increase in part to the economic downturn and to racial unrest following last summer’s Jena Six incident, as well as recent events such as the Howard Beach assaults and the Sean Bell shooting.

Indeed, the city saw 144 anti-Semitic crimes in 2007, up from 107 in 2006. Racially motivated attacks against blacks rose from 23 in 2006 to 35 in 2007. Hate crimes against whites increased from six incidents in 2006 to eight last year, while attacks motivated by sexual or gender identity dropped from 51 to 50.

I’m not sure how one makes the case that outrage over the Jena Six case caused Blacks to be targeted, and economic downturn hardly explains why Jews and Blacks are getting beaten unless we assume angry racist day traders went berserk when the Dow dropped.

Illegal immigration and Islamic radicalism, however, explain both those things. It’s interesting to note that while we learn much about the victims, we learn little about the perpetrators.

Hate crime stats also dismiss crimes where robberies or rapes occur even if a racial element was present in the crime. Thus Whites are disproportionately under represented even though it is quite common for White teens, for example, to be targeted for crimes in certain areas.

Just one more reason to leave New York if you’re there. For all the liberal sanctimony about being more tolerant the fact is Blacks and Jews are more likely to be a victim of a hate attack in New York than the back woods of of the deep south.

Black Super Delegates Learning How Black Conservatives are Treated

The Politico ran this weepy piece about Black super delegates who are still with Clinton getting death threats from Obama supporters. The author doesn’t state the whole story as most of the nastiness no doubt comes from Whites:

African-American super delegates said Thursday that they’ll stand up against threats, intimidation and “Uncle Tom” smears rather than switch their support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama.

“African-American super delegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a super delegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black super delegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.

“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.”

After civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) switched his support from Clinton to Obama earlier this week, other black super delegates have come under renewed pressure to do a similar about-face. A handful have bowed to the entreaties in recent weeks, including Georgia Rep. David Scott, but many say they are steadfast in their support for Clinton and resent strong-arm tactics to make them change.

Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-Calif.), a black lawmaker and Clinton backer, said the intense lobbying for Obama would not alter her vote.

“I’ve gotten threatening mail,” Watson said. “They say, ‘Your district went 61-29 Obama and you need to change.’ But I don’t intimidate. I can hold the ground. … I would lose my seat over my principles.”

Cleaver questioned why white super delegates such as Massachusetts Sens. Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry weren’t being targeted to support Clinton after she carried their state.

“If white people were being harassed and threatened because they were not supporting a white candidate, we’d see headlines,” he said.

“I refuse to believe that Sen. Obama gave orders for something like this to happen. This is a contradiction of the new politics that Sen. Obama is running on,” he said. “My fear is with all of the nastiness, we’re going to have a whole lot of kissing and making up to do as a party.”

Of course, Obama doesn’t have to, he has people like Jane Hamsher to do it for him.

Virtual Transgression: The Brandy Priestess Interview

I once harbored a dream of being a poet and was told in no uncertain terms that though I was quite talented that I was a “19th Century Man,” and unlikely to ever be published unless I eschewed the Romanticism I so enjoy and moved from fixed forms and decadent themes to the more “transgressive” and modern. The end of my career as a poet coincided with my entrance into Wesleyan and a class I took where we studied “sudden fiction” with a professor who told me frankly that no poem that rhymed was any good, the masters be damned.

Her opinions was formed in the crucible of post modernism, and are the product of the deconstructionist tendencies of academia though the “artistic” community, and the left in general, embrace the counter enlightenment ideals of the deconstructionists. To this Wesleyan professor, and unfortunately much of the artistic and cultural establishment, Transgressivism is the hight of expression artistic or otherwise.

Brandy Priestess, who caused quite a stir last week when she emailed one of the most hateful screeds I’d ever seen to Michelle Malkin, is another product of the post modern relativism that permeates our society.

A self described film maker who is deeply obsessed with race relations in America, Priestess insists that her email was an experiment designed to show that our media is obsessed with negative portrayals of race. She further supposes that Malkin publishing the email without first checking in with her to see if it was “really how she feels” is proof that Malkin is a racist.

The logic is tortured to be sure, but common enough. That it smacks of the Bernie Ward defense only proves how insidious post modernism is in our culture and how the celebration of Transgression creates a poisonous climate of excused degeneracy, a meaningless world where racism, anger and hatred can be used to “expose” hypocrisy and where generation after generation of children are raised without boundaries, morals or an appreciation of traditional artistic concepts like Beauty.

Brandy Priestess is the new Nick Zedd, although Zedd fans will likely be disappointed by Priestess’ documentary given his usual excess. I’ll reserve my criticism of her film until I see it, but I need not see it to observe that like Zedd and a host of lazy and over hyped “artists” Priestess seems more interested in the promotion of her art than the art itself. As an artist her antics will overshadow both her message and her art.

This is perhaps how she wants it to be. Our culture celebrates the self important, the pseudo intellectual and above all the unmerited contravention of personal boundaries. People my age who are shallow enough to still care whether or not we’re “cool” pretentiously celebrate the Nick Zedds of the world, the “artists” who offer us only their hatred of society and themselves.
