Governments Hoarding Gold in Preparation for Global Collapse

Countries are increasingly using gold for trade rather than dollars, euros or any other currency. Both India and China has recently been trading gold to Iran for oil and various moves away from the old system of trade have been observed world-wide.

Aside from the collapsing value of the dollar and Euro on reason countries are heading into gold is to avoid sanctions by the U.S. and Europe and have money on hand to by arms and supplies for military actions that the West might try to stop. India and China using gold for oil is also a stealth attack on the dollar, increasing both the value of gold and the pressure on the dollar.

Twelve other countries are noticeably increasing gold reserves in a move that is clearly a preparation for eventual global financial turmoil. From Mineweb.com:

According to the latest IMF statistics at least 12 countries are known to have increased their gold reserves in March indicating the continuation of a trend now going back more than two years, and one which has been on its own a substantial supporter of the higher gold prices seen over the period.  Overall Central Banks appear to have purchased no less than 58 tonnes in the month, which could suggest an acceleration in their increases in holdings if buying at this rate continues throughout the year.

While the majority of these countries only raised their reserves by a very small amount, there were indeed some quite significant purchases – notably from Mexico, which increased its holdings by 16.81 tonnes to a total of 122.58 tonnes; Russia with purchases of 16.55 tonnes giving it total reserves now of 895.75 tonnes; Turkey with 11.48 tonnes taking it to 209.6 tonnes in its reserves.  Argentina bought 7 tonnes taking its holdings to 61.74 tonnes, Kazakhstan with 4.3 tonnes – up to 96.16 tonnes and Ukraine with 1.18 tonnes bringing its holding to 29.21 tonnes.  A further half dozen countries raised their holdings by increments of less than a tonne.

This, of course, only shows the figures for those nations which are, one assumes, wholly transparent in reporting their gold holdings.  There have been some quite sharp ‘upwards adjustments’ in the past from some countries which have been less open in their reporting – notably China which is assumed by most observers to be building its gold reserves strongly over the three years since it last announced an upgrade in its holdings.

The continuing upwards trend in Central Bank purchasing is yet another indicator of unease in the sector about the prospects for those currencies – notably the dollar, the euro, the pound sterling and the Japanese yen – which provide the bulk of their monetary reserves.

European Parliament member Nigel Farage has just warned that the politicians there know Europe will collapse but are unable to figure out a way to tell the public:

There are going to be some serious banking collapses and the impact of that on some sovereign states, will be serious.  I’m afraid we’ve gotten to a point where we really can’t stop this now.  We’re beginning to reach a stage where however much false money you create, the problem becomes bigger than the people trying to solve it.  We are very close to that point.

When I talk about the threats and the risk that this thing could wind up in some kind of rebellion, some sort of awful social cataclysm, they (other European politicians) are now very worried indeed.  They will talk to you in private, but in public, nobody dares utter a word.

I think the deterioration, in the last two or three weeks, in the eurozone is very serious indeed.  It’s the bond spreads in Italy and Spain.  It’s the fact that youth unemployment is now over 50% in some of these Mediterranean countries.

It’s riot and disorder on the streets.  And yet a month ago I was here and there was Herman Van Rumpuy telling us, ‘We’ve turned the corner.  Everything is solved.  There are no more problems with the eurozone.’  What a pack of jokers they look like.”

So hoarding gold or other commodities is a good idea for any country and especially any citizen who realizes the government can’t take care of them.

Americans Facing Higher Canadian Oil Prices Thanks to Obama

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is showing a lot of backbone and common sense in his reaction to the Obama administration giving the green hell for wanting to build an oil pipeline that would have created thousands of jobs and made us much less dependent on oil imports from our enemies. I wish we had leaders like this here:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Even if President Barack Obama approved the controversial Keystone XL pipeline tomorrow, at least some Canadian oil would still flow to Asia, according to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

In a public one-on-one interview here with Jane Harman, head of the Wilson Centre think-tank, Harper said Obama’s rejection of the controversial pipeline — even temporarily — stressed Canada’s need to find other buyers for oilsands crude.

And that wouldn’t change even if the president’s mind did.

“Look, the very fact that a ‘no’ could even be said underscores to our country that we must diversify our energy export markets,” Harper told Harman in front of a live audience of businesspeople, scholars, diplomats, and journalists.

“We cannot be, as a country, in a situation where our one and, in many cases, only energy partner could say no to our energy products. We just cannot be in that position.”

His wide-ranging question-and-answer at the influential non-partisan think-tank — which also touched on border security, trade, the Arctic and Syria among other topics — followed a meeting with Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon at the White House for the sixth North American Leaders’ Summit.

Harper also told Harman that Canada has been selling its oil to the United States at a discounted price.

So not only will America be able to buy less Canadian oil even if Keystone is eventually approved, the U.S. will also have to pay more for it because the market for oilsands crude will be more competitive.

“We have taken a significant price hit by virtue of the fact that we are a captive supplier and that just does not make sense in terms of the broader interests of the Canadian economy,” Harper said. “We’re still going to be a major supplier of the United States. It will be a long time, if ever, before the United States isn’t our number one export market, but for us the United States cannot be our only export market.

“That is not in our interest, either commercially or in terms of pricing.”

Obama is of course claiming that this is the fault of Republicans but the reality is he thought Canada would knuckle under and sit on billions of dollars of oil as a favor to Obama. Now China, an increasingly belligerent threat that is already a match for America in terms of military manpower and might, will have even more cheap oil to build their force projection capabilities. The liberals and greens in Hawaii and on the West Coast will get bombed first so i don’t really care.

But more expensive Canadian oil means food price will start climbing even faster in the future so factor that into your plans now. Store food.

Chi-Com Agents in Queens Attack American Citizens!

Outrageous!

Beginning May 17, a series of organized attacks and hate crimes by hundreds of agitated pro-communist Chinese in Flushing, New York targeted volunteer workers for The Epoch Times newspapers and Quitting CCP (Chinese Communist Party) Service Center, as well as hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners. The attacks injured several practitioners, including a 70-year- old retired engineer and a lady who has two sons serving in the U.S. military in Iraq.

The pro-communist mobs have assembled each day in Flushing to physically assault and threaten Falun Gong practitioners with death. Falun Gong practitioners have been pelted with bottles, eggs, and stones, and have been spit on. The situation continues, extending on Sunday May 25th to Manhattan’s Chinatown, where Falun Gong practitioners had a peaceful parade. Hundred of pro-communists hurled water bottles and pieces of pastry, even at the small children and elderly people in the parade.

The WOIPFG (World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong) has obtained a recorded phone conversation with the consul general of China in New York, Mr. Peng Keyu, in which he boasts of his behind-the-scenes role in the recent violent incidents in Flushing, New York.

Yet the New York situation is only the tip of the iceberg. The CCP has a broad reach in its export of its ideology, terrorism, and influence to the U.S. Similar crowd incidents also happened last month in Los Angeles and Japan, and in April during the Olympic Torch Relay in San Francisco and Korea. Through decades of dealings, a huge network of pro-communist political alliances, Chinese student organizations, local businesses, social clubs, and administrative divisions has been established under the control of the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the United States. The network can be effectively utilized in favor of the communist regime whenever it needs to. It is clearly in evidence in the Flushing attacks.

U.S. citizens have deep concerns about the CCP’s influence and infiltration in the United States. Thursday’s forum will raise the awareness of the on-going crimes and deceptive tactics of CCP in Flushing and elsewhere, the implications for human rights, and national security.

Isn’t it time we started treating the Chinese Communists like the enemies of freedom  and America they are? They poison us, threaten us and now send their Comintern goons living here to sully our streets with an orgy of violence.

Child Virus Fears Spread in China, ChiComs Punish Doctors for “Mishandling Virus”

In Max Brooks’ World War Z the plague that causes zombies to overrun the world begins in China. The Communists attempted to cover up the plague, hiding the truth until it was too late.

The reports of a virus killing children in the P.R.C. and the governments ruthless crackdown on doctors who can’t cure the children reminded me a bit of the book when I read these articles. The first is a Reuters report:

BEIJING (Reuters) – Fears of a virus that has killed at least 26 children in China gripped parents in Beijing on Tuesday amid a spreading outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease.

The health scare prompted the Foreign Ministry to seek to assure the country it was doing its best to contain the outbreak.

“The Chinese government is paying great attention to the virus and related departments are taking effective measures to stop it from spreading,” ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a news conference.

Hand, foot and mouth is a common illness in children and infants caused by a family of viruses called enteroviruses and outbreaks regularly occur in China.

But the current outbreak has led to fatalities mostly when linked with enterovirus 71 (EV71), which can cause a severe form of the disease that can lead to high fever, paralysis and viral meningitis.

Some 11,905 cases of hand, foot and mouth have been reported in China this year, the official Xinhua news agency said. EV71 has caused 26 deaths, largely in Fuyang, a city in China’s eastern province of Anhui. At least two deaths were in the southern province of Guangdong.

All of the deaths in Fuyang were of children under six years old and most were under two.

[…]

China, which initially covered up the SARS epidemic in 2003, has denied a cover-up this time round and ordered authorities to aggressively tackle hand, foot and mouth.

An editorial in Monday’s China Daily blamed the crisis in Fuyang on a “delayed reaction” by the local government.

The Chinese government is blaming the doctors that treated many of the victims for their deaths in a move transparently designed to make those deaths look as if they were avoidable. From BrietBart.com:

Ten doctors and officials in China have been punished for mishandling a virus that has killed 26 children, state media reported as the number of infected youngsters rose to nearly 12,000.

The punishments have been meted out in the eastern Anhui province, where the bulk of the deaths have occurred and local officials have been accused of being too slow to report the disease, Xinhua news agency said late on Monday.

The virus is called enterovirus 71, or EV71, which leads to hand, foot and mouth disease.

EV71 is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with the mucus, saliva or faeces of an infected person. Young children are most susceptible because of weaker immune systems.

As of Monday, it had infected 11,905 children nationwide, killing 26 of them, Xinhua reported, citing government figures.

The outbreak caused the Ministry of Health to declare a national alert over the weekend and establish a task force to liaise with local officials on control efforts.

In Anhui, one village doctor was fined 4,080 yuan (583 dollars) for illegally injecting 17 children with immune globulin, falsely claiming it would cure them, according to Xinhua.

The doctor, Wang Dongjun, charged 80 yuan for each injection, while five local county officials have been reprimanded for not distributing information about the virus.

Their failure to tell the people in Lichen village about the nature of the virus allowed Wang to “profiteer” from the disease, Xinhua reported, without saying what happened to the mistreated patients.

[…]

Sections of China’s state-run media have been highly critical of how authorities in Fuyang handled the outbreak, because children first started falling ill in March but the problem was not made public until last week.

That’s rich. China’s state run media is saying there was a cover up.

So if the government is willing to admit to nearly 12,000 people infected with this killer virus just before the Olympics, how many more do you think are really infected?

Canada Lousy with Violent Communists

Tibetan protesters rallying for freedom in their home country were harassed and assaulted at a Communist Chinese organized rally in the supposedly free country of Canada. From Epoch Times:

TORONTO—A rally that was billed as promoting “anti-violence” turned hostile on Saturday as flag-waving Chinese denounced Tibetans who they blamed for the recent turmoil in Tibet in which 100 are said to have died.

Close to 1000 Chinese were in Toronto’s Dundas Square for the afternoon event, many of them students.

“Dalai Lama die there!” some Chinese shouted at a group of Tibetans who had gathered across the street from the square to protest. “Leave Canada!” others urged.

Tibetans say the Chinese rally, which began orderly, was designed to incite hate against them.

The event was promoted in Chinese-language press as a rally to tell the “truth” about Tibet and “safeguard the reunification of the motherland.”

Several major Chinese-language media outlets in Canada have parroted the Chinese communist regime’s line on Tibet, blaming the turmoil on the Dalai Lama and his followers and fanning a nationalist animosity toward Tibetans.

The rally began with a parade of speeches repeating the Chinese regime’s line on Tibet: that it has long been part of China, that the Chinese government spent millions trying to help the Tibetan people, and that Tibetan monks and youths led violent protests in Lhasa recently that caused death and suffering of Han Chinese, the majority ethnic group in China.

The speeches were interspersed with patriotic Chinese songs. No mention was made of police violence used to quash the protests, nor of the Tibetan grievances that experts say sparked the initially peaceful protests in Lhasa.

“China and Chinese people have helped Tibetan people to improve human rights,” said one organizer who spoke in English. “How can somebody who cannot even read or write understand anything about human rights? If they cannot read or write, how can they understand what they have lost in the past in Tibet? People were just blind faith to believe in their religion. They were controlled.”

Another speaker added, “Tibetan culture not only has not been damaged, but has been greatly protected, spread and developed.”

The Pro-Chinese protest was clearly supporting the dreaded Imperialism that lefty college professors hate so much. Oh, how I just know those students get an ear full of self righteous moralizing on the horrors of the Chinese empire every semester.

What should worry the Canadians more however is the fact that the Chinese language press in Canada is shill for the Chinese Communist government (or an arm of it, really) and that they can turn out 1000 college students anytime they want to “protest” this or that. 1000 students who sang “patriotic Chinese songs” (Communist party songs they mean) and were ready to commit violence against their fellow Asian immigrants.

What else could the Red China get these 1000 people to do? Riot? Spy? Kill the Prime Minister?

Canada, the same country that hauled Ezra Lavant in front of thought crime court for criticizing Militant Islam, allows the Chinese government to broadcast Communist propaganda into millions of homes there (as do we, via Direct TV), including what Canada itself would define as hate speech.

The southern border gets a lot of attention from Americans but our northern neighbors are becoming just as dangerous as they allow themselves to be infiltrated by governments and movements that seek our destruction.

I’m ready for a fence.
