Stakelbeck on Terror Interview with Kemal Saleem

Kemal Seleem is a former Jihadist who converted to Christianity. Saleem wrote a book talking about the Jihadist worldview called The Blood of Lambs that is well worth your time. In this interview he talks about growing up as a Jihadist, his relationship with he Muslim Brotherhood and his work to establish a worldwide Islamic caliphate. He also describes how Muslims see Christians and Jews which will shock most people and his ties to the radical left – including training current radical left activists in bomb making.

Because it’s a Christin Broadcast Network program it’s a bit heavy on the theology but this information is something every American needs to hear:

Electromagnetic Pulse and American Security

Eric Harris of Etherton and Associates (a defense consulting firm) wrote an article called Electromagnetic Pulse and American Security that has been called a welcome addition to the growing voices calling for more attention to the threat of EMP weapons being deployed against the U.S.

There are the usual panicky pronouncements about America being thrown back into 18th century overnight when our electricity is out long-term due to an attack, which is silly since people moved easily from the 18th century (the 1700s) into the 19th and 20th century sans power grid, iPhones and computers. But Harris’ attitude toward a long-term blackout is indicative of the attitude of many Americans – which is why an EMP would be so dangerous. A region wide blackout that lasted more than a week would be seen by many as an Apocalypse and they will act accordingly. And by act I mean loot, riot and lose their collective minds.

Harris makes several suggestions to mitigate the threat which can only be implemented by the government. Among them are hardening infrastructure, creating a national space weather emergency plan and having a missile defense capability aimed at stopping EMP warhead strikes. If we weren’t broke I’d say they’re all great ideas. I would add that each one of us can personally mitigate the threat by being prepared for extended blackouts and the service interruptions that entails. This means having ways to cook and clean without power or running water, food storage that can be utilized without electricity, water storage, heat and shelter that isn’t reliant on the grid and back up plans for procuring necessities when credit cards won’t work, gas won’t pump and stores are closed.

This doesn’t mean going solar (solar systems will be fried as well) it means being able to live a non-electric lifestyle when necessary. Check out stores like Lehman’s to find appliances that work without power. Have multiple oil lamps on hand as well as candles and flashlights, with plenty of lamp oil. Re-learn skills your grandparents had like doing laundry with a washboard and washtub. Have multiple emergency cooking methods including charcoal and wood grills, sterno stoves (I have one which works well) and the old-fashioned campfire tripod.

There’s much more but you get the idea. The EMP weapon threat is a terrorist play. it relies on Americans being afraid of losing their comfortable lifestyle for a long period of time. If Americans can prepare themselves for a few months or *gasp* years of not having reliable power that threat loses much of its teeth.

Which isn’t to say this isn’t a serious threat. High mortality rates are the hallmark of any country without reliable power and sanitation. Disease and starvation will run rampant even if we are all prepared. But the government can’t stop the eventual use of EMP weapons by terrorists or a rogue state, so it’s prudent to prepare for the eventuality.

Melissa Harris-Perry Believes in Organ Harvesting Blood Libel

Too be fair she doesn’t specifically claim the Jooooos are harvesting Black people’s organs but she comes damn close. In a discussion on lack of organ donations among African-Americans and how that has consequences for African-American patients, Harris-Perry tells a host subbing for known anti-Semite Al Sharpton that fears of Black folk being given sub-par treatment to hasten their demise in an attempt to steal their organs (for other Black folk?) are justified.

Harris-Perry is a talking head on MSNBC these days, as is Sharpton. MSNBC does not care that both spread historic anti-Semitic blood libels in public. Somewhat related is the current announcement by The Nation of Islam that Glenn Beck is an agent of the “Synagogue of Satan” which is calling for Louis Farrakhan to be assassinated. They are threatening violence.

It’s odd. It almost seems as if the left is using radical racists to mainstream the hatred of Jews. I wonder why they would be doing that now?

Food Price Increases Foreseen Due to Drought

Beef and grain, already under pressure in the United States, will be the hardest hit.

From Agriculture.com:

New reports from Brazil’s Parana state, a leading corn and soybean producing area in the southern part of the the country, say that the drought there is “worse-than-expected,” according to a Dow Jones Newswires story Monday. Parana is Brazil’s leading corn grower and second leading soybean producer.

“The western part of Parana, near the border with Paraguay, has been particularly affected,” says Agroconsult’s Fabio Meneghin. “I didn’t expect it to be so bad,” Meneghin said, based on a tour of the region.

Nestor Reinke, who farms about 75 hectares in the region, told the news service that he estimates losses of 40% in his corn and 60% in soybeans.

“We went about 45 days without rain,” Reinke said.

Drier conditions are expected to continue across southern Brazil, “which will maintain stress there on soybean growth,” MDA EarthSat Weather reported Monday. Rains are causing harvest delays in the northern part of the country, the weather service said.

Another South American source told Agriculture.com Marketing Talk members last week that the recent rains in Brazil thus far have been “unable to replenish soil moisture, which has large deficits.

It gets worse. From the Financial Times:

The drought sweeping swathes of South America’s prime farmland is really starting to bite in Argentina now as farmers count the cost of irrevocably lost crops.

Farmers themselves are looking at losses of $2.5bn – or $94 per hectare for soya and $167 per hectare for corn, according to this report in La Nación newspaper. El Cronista Comercial business paper reckons losses in export revenue for Argentina, one of the world’s major farm export nations, could be as much as $6bn.

Argentina typically sows a late corn and soya crop, but prospects for so-called “second corn” have been ruined by the lack of rain and “what there is now is all there will be,” Gastón Fernández Palma, president of the Argentine No-Till Farmers’ Association, told beyondbrics.

Argentina maximised yields and slashed costs by the “no-till” method, in which crops are sown on top of the stumps of earlier ones, such as wheat. But with much of the prime producing zone in the northwest of the province of Buenos Aires, south of Santa Fé and southeast Córdoba still parched and gasping for rain, “we’re getting right to the limit (for sowing)” Fernández Palma said of “second soya”. Mind you, he said “some farmers will still sow out of desperation”.

Farmers still have 1m hectares of second soya to sow, but “the longer they wait, the lower the yields will be,” echoed Armando Casalins, a technical advisor at the Grains Storage Federation. He reckoned Argentina’s corn harvest will now be 21m tonnes “and falling”, down from an estimated 28m, while soya production will be 3m to 4m tonnes lower than expected. Even the USDA’s latest soya estimate, 50.5m tonnes, may be hard to reach, farmers say.

“February is critical – it’s the month when the yields are defined in Argentina,” said one executive at a major multinational agricultural grains and oil producer, who asked not to be named. Though rains last week were patchy and mostly disappointing, good rainfall from now on could still salvage some production. “We started the year expecting 52m to 53m tonnes of soya and now, if the rains are good, we could see production of 49m. But no more,” he said. Paraguay is also looking at production of 5m tonnes, down from 7.5m; Brazil less than 70m, compared with 72m to 73m, and Uruguay some 300,000 tonnes less than its expected 2m, he added.

As I’ve blogged before, drought is also hurting American cattle herds and China is having problems with drought conditions hurting food production. In addition to the inflation caused by the Fed printing money these shortages will work in concert with high gas prices to make beef, corn and items with soy and corn by-products in them much more expensive. Texan rice farmers are also about to get hit hard as emergency drought measures are going to cut off the water they need to irrigate the crops:

Thousands of farmers in Texas’ rice-producing region are likely to be affected by action taken in response to one of the most severe droughts in state history. With water management agencies implementing emergency plans never used before, the Lower Colorado River Authority is widely expected to announce March 1 that it will not release water to rice farmers in three counties.

“This is the very first time this has happened,” Gertson said. “Rice irrigation was here before LCRA ever existed.”

Texas usually produces about 5 percent of the nation’s rice. Production also is dropping this year in the other five major rice-growing states, including No. 1 Arkansas, as farmers are pressed by rising production costs and dropping prices.

Gertson said he can grow about a third of his rice with groundwater. If he pushes it, he might get about 45 percent of the acres he normally plants.

England is also facing a severe drought that is destroying what little food is still grown there.

Stock up on on food now. I do much of my shopping at Costco and if you’re near a store that is similar joining saves you a lot of money.

It’s also not a bad time to start thinking about Urban Homesteading.

For You Liberals Who Think Pepper Spray is Adequate for Self-Defense

The dangerous myth that pepper spray will stop an attacker cold is thrown at women with reckless abandon. Much like the groin strike myth it is aimed on woman in particular who feel uncomfortable with other weapons and have no idea how often men are stuck in their groins as kids horsing around. Find ten men and at least one will have allowed himself to be pepper sprayed by friends, and there’s probably one who’s taken a dose from a cop. Having experienced it they will not panic when it’s used on them again and can keep fighting. This is also the case with drunks, addicts and just people with anger problems who don’t care how much there eyes burn or how difficult it is to breath.

Observe. This guy is 53-yearold Glenn L. Horlacher. He was drunk and violent at Disneyland. Security pepper sprayed this old douchbag several times and he kept fighting:

Now I don’t think you shouldn’t have a good pepper spray in your arsenal (or bear spray if you can get it) but people have to understand what the spray does. It gives you an advantage over an opponent, slightly disorienting them with mild pain and discomfort, and that gives you the opportunity to flee or fight. But just spraying a guy then trying to walk away in your heels will get you killed. Spraying an assailant (and when you do you should empty the can on him then hurl the can as hard as you can into his head) should be followed up with some other form of violence while you have an advantage. Because as you can see after multiple pepper sprays it Glenn was able to knock the security guard off his feet and injure someone. A young healthy mugger or rapists can be expected to outperform him.

After pepper spraying someone it’s a good time to give them the groin kick, followed up by a stabbing in the neck with car keys and maybe some good old fashioned strangulation. That’s not even close to what an attacker is planning on doing to you ladies.
